Catherine “Katie” (Hooge) Wiens, 93 of Munich, ND died on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon, ND. The Funeral Service for Catherine will be held next Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Salem Bible Church, Munich with Reverend Michael Jarrett officiating. Catherine will be interred beside her beloved husband Edwin at Rosehill Cemetery, rural Alsen, ND. Music will be a mixed quartet which includes Lynette Boese, Arlys Wiens, Aaron Wiens and Allen Wiens and congregational hymns accompanied by Joel Wiens and Sharon Seibel. Catherine was born in rural Henderson Township, rural Munich, ND on June 11, 1923 the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Hooge. As a young girl, she accepted Christ into her life, was baptized and was active in the Rosehill Mennonite Brethren Church, until it closed in 1990. Catherine later attended Salem Mennonite Church in Munich. Catherine’s education was received at Rosehill School as well as Bethany Bible Training School in Munich. On August 23, 1942, Catherine married Edwin Wiens at Rosehill Mennonite church. They farmed near Munich, where they resided until 2000. Edwin and Catherine spent part of twenty-five winters in South Texas. They enjoyed the last 7 of those years at the Bibleville Conference Grounds in Alamo, Texas. In 2000, they moved to Wheatland Estates in Langdon. Edwin died in May of 2002 at Maple Manor. Catherine continued to live at Wheatland until July 2013 when she transferred to Maple Manor. Catherine is survived by her loving family. Her children, daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Marlo Seibel of Wahpeton, ND and son and daughter-in-law Allen and Arlys Wiens of Munich ; grandchildren Trent (Michelle) Seibel, Fargo, ND; Joel (Kaylee) Wiens, Farmington, MN, Aaron (Carissa) Wiens, Rochester, MN; great grandchildren Hannah, Madison and Lilliana Seibel, Ethan, Emily and Ellie Wiens, Addison and Chloe Wiens and several nieces, nephews and their families. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edwin; brothers and sisters-in-law Henry and Ann, John and Orpha and Richard and Hilda Hooge; sisters and brothers-in-law Agnes Hooge, Luella and Dean Helms and Marie and Emmanuel Hodel.
