Connie R. Lohnes, 60 of Spirit Lake Nation, passed away on November 1, 2018 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
Connie Rae, daughter of Emeline Lohnes was born on January 16, 1958 at Devils Lake, ND. Connie grew up in St. Michael and attended school there. With hard work and determination, she earned her GED through Little Hoop Community College.
Connie’s passion was caring for others and she worked as a caregiver at St. Jude’s Home in Fort Totten and worked with the elderly at the CHR program for many years, she also worked at other Tribal programs. Most recently, Connie worked as a jailer and as a dispatcher with BIA Corrections in Fort Totten. Connie was at one time married to Frenchy Brown and they were the proud parents of Collette and Jason.
Connie had so many talents and was such a creative person. She enjoyed writing, designing including decorating for the holidays, which always included a variety of Nativity scenes. She was always working on different art and craft projects and sharing her creations with family and friends. Connie was all about getting family together and cooking all their favorites and her specialties. She was avid reader and shopper.
Connie was known for always joking and teasing and giving everyone a nickname; sometimes more than one nickname. Connie loved her family and was so very proud of her grandchildren.
We can’t imagine our lives without Connie, but the many memories of her will be in our hearts forever.
Connie is survived by her loving family. Her daughter Collette Brown (Jason Thompson), Warwick, ND; son Jason Brown (Krista Parisien) , Fort Totten; adopted nieces and nephews as her own Anthony, James, Dana, Shana, Dakota, Ethan, Stuart, Trisha, Jaime, Jeremy and Dawn; grandchildren Wyatt, Tayia, Neela-Jermiah, Aiden, Addison-Kayla, Avery, Emeline-Ava; brothers Ron (Mary) Lohnes, Robert Lohnes, Shane (Alberta) Lohnes and adopted sister Debbie Adams; special friend Justin DuBois; other beloved nieces and nephews and father of her children Frenchy Brown.
Those to welcome Connie home to heaven include her mother Emeline; grandson Gabriel and great grandparents James Lohnes and Emma Alberts.
Casket Bearers for Connie will be Anthony Lohnes, Ethan Lohnes, Stuart Lohnes, James Lohnes, Wyatt Jetty, Jermiah Brown and Lane Adams Sr.
Honorary Bearers are all of those who spent time with Connie. You were all so special to Connie.
The Wake for Connie will be held at the St. Michael’s Recreation Center on Monday, November 5, 2018 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Monday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza.
Funeral Services for Connie will be on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Recreation Center with Father Paul Schuster officiating.
