Craig Lee Littleghost, ‘Čhante Wasaka Wičhsha’ (Strong Heart Man), 41, of Bemidji, Minn. and St. Michael, ND, began his journey to the Spirit World on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Sanford Health Medical Center in Bemidji.
The Wake for Craig will be held on Wednesday, April 25 at the St. Michael Wellness Center beginning at 5 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Wednesday at 4 p.m. from the City Plaza, Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Craig will be on Thursday, April 26 also at the St. Michael Wellness Center at 10 a.m. with Father Charles Leute OP officiating. Craig will be laid to rest in St. Michael’s Cemetery, St. Michael.
Craig Lee was born on Sept. 16, 1976, at Devils Lake, ND, the son of Jeaneen Littleghost. He lived with his family in the St. Michael area and later in Grand Forks where he attended school. With hard work and determination, Craig earned his GED. Since 1994, Craig and his precious Norma Jean Thomas, shared a beautiful life of love and family and in 2003 they were united in marriage. They lived, worked and raised their family in Bemidji. Craig worked at Valvoline Instant Oil Change and most recently was employed as a Shuttle Driver for Palace Casino at Cass Lake for the past six years until health issues forced him to retire. Craig enjoyed time at home watching movies, being with his dear family and friends. He always had a smile and a contagious laugh that won’t be forgotten. Our dear husband, dad, son, brother, uncle and cousin, we will miss you always.
Craig is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Littleghost; daughter, Chelsey Littleghost; sons he raised as his own, Delbert Demarce and Vernell Demarce and adopted sons, Adam Newquist, Nick Schoning and Ben Bauman; anxiously awaiting the birth of his first grandchild in July; mother, Jeaneen Littleghost; sisters, Mary Littleghost, Leann Littleghost Fuentes, Misty McGee; adopted sisters, Donna Stephens and Pam Stephens; father-in-law, Richard Thomas Jr.; sisters-in-law, Denise Thomas, Faye Thomas and Joni Thomas; nephews and nieces, Leshawn Littleghost, Yuriah Cavanaugh, Leondro Cavanaugh, Yazmin Fuentes, Leovany Fuentes, Baby LeAnn Fuentes, Deandre Blades, Dakota Blades, Javon Blades, Elise Blades, Jakera McGee, Michael McGowan, Zahara McGee and Zayina McGee; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence Littleghost Sr., Geraldine Young; mother-in-law, Linda Peltier; uncles, Lawrence Littleghost Jr. and Stacy Littleghost; aunts, Wanda Gonzales Littleghost, LuAnne Littleghost, and Karen Littleghost; great-aunts, Arlene Gomez and Maxine Peltier; Norma Jean’s grandparents, Richard Sr. and Winifred Thomas and other beloved relatives. Casket Bearers for Craig will be Mark Littleghost, Shawn Littleghost, Robert Little, Felix Cerda, Ben Bauman, Adam Newquist, Nick Schoning, Clint Keo Sr. and David Keo. Honorary Pallbearers will be Craig’s loving family and many dear friends. Craig is in the care of the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake.
