Curtiss Shane Tollefson, Tatanka Naj’i

There will be a Wake at St. Michael’s Wellness Center on Monday, March 17, 2025 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Monday at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza, Devils Lake.

Funeral Services for Curtiss will be on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Wellness Center with Pastor Paul Young and Reverend Larry Thiele officiating. Burial will follow at the Tollefson Residence, rural St. Michael.

God blessed our home with a son Curtiss Shane Tollefson, Tatanka Naj’i on June 19, 1976 and Curtiss went to be with the Lord Jesus to his new home on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

Curtiss Shane, the son of John and Marva (Littleghost) Tollefson was born in Devils Lake ND. He lived his short life on the Spirit Lake Nation. He earned his GED and worked a variety of jobs including Cankdeska Cikano Community College, the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort and two seasons as a Fire Fighter.

His family meant the world to him and he was heart broken when his daughter April let this earthly home. He was always very respectful to the elderly and treasured his traditional ways.

Curtiss is survived by his loving family: His parents John and Marva; son Johnson Shae Tollefson; grandson Logan Auker; grandparents Phillip Longie and Helena Littleghost; three brothers John Tollefson and his children Felicity, John III, Sydney, Shelby, Kinsley and McKinley; Michael Tollefson and his children Dacia, Gimanawas’te, Dante, and Tayler; Eugene (Lynn) Littleghost Sr. and children Eugene “EJ” and Eryx; sister Robin Tollefson Tikanye and children Josiah and Gabrielle; uncles Mark Littleghost and Vanessa and family, Daniel Rainbow, Rudolph (Judy) Tollefson, Daniel Tollefson, Tom Robertson Jr. and James Robertson; aunts Jeaneen Littleghost, Nancy (William) Thomas, Elizabeth (Charles) McGarvey, Mary Lou (Jim) Steinhaus, Marilyn Littleghost and family, Leticia Littleghost, Johanna Hunt, Roberta Littleghost, Renita Littlewind-Shaw, Darla (Larry) Thiele, June Blueshield, Sheila Blueshield, Lorna Dubois and family; many beloved nieces.
