Dale Leroy Dinger died Monday, October 22, 2018 in Devils Lake with his family by his side.

Funeral services for Dale will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Devils Lake. Burial will be after the service at the Devils Lake Cemetery with fellowship and a luncheon to follow at the church. Visitation will be at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Thursday, October 25 from 4:00-6:00 PM with a celebration of life at The Ranch Steakhouse from 6:00-8:00 PM.

Dale was born in Rothsay, MN on March 25, 1936, the first of 4 children born to Henry and Alice Dinger. He was born and raised on the family farm. He attended a one-room schoolhouse in Rothsay and then went to an agricultural boarding high school in Morris, MN. The curriculum was structured for farming children and it was here that he met Deloris. After high school, Dale joined the Army and was stationed in the Hudson Bay area and manned the Distant Early Warning Line. Dale earned a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Minnesota in 1961.

Dale married his high school sweetheart, Deloris (Rusty) on June 21st 1958 in St. Joseph church near Rosholt, SD. They lived in Minneapolis, Dickinson, and Devils Lake and raised three children Randy, Paul, and Beth.

Dale loved his farming roots and would have been a farmer if conditions had allowed. He eventually managed farmland of his own near the farm where he grew up. After college, he began a long career with the Federal Land Bank in Dickinson and Devils Lake. He was president of First National Bank of Devils Lake from 1987 until he retired in 1998, giving him more time to care for Deloris, see his family, and golf.

Dale contributed to the communities he lived in. He was a member of the Elks, Rotary, Skating Club, Toastmasters, Devils Lake Community Development Corporation, and Forward Devils Lake Development Corporation. Dale was a faithful member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church for over forty years.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, woodworking, walking with Deloris, and especially golf. Some might say he was obsessed with golf! He created many friendships on the golf course, and he was a very frequent visitor of the Devils Lake Town and Country Club. It was with much reluctance that he gave up golf due to health reasons several years ago. He was a very caring man who loved his family dearly.

Dale is survived by his children, Randy (Shellie) Dinger, Boise, ID, Paul (Laura) Dinger, Newcastle, WA and Beth (Ryan) Wilhelmi, Stanley, ND.  Seven grandchildren, Karin (Adrian) Gasparotti, Walla Walla, WA, Justin (Rachael) Dinger, Ft. Collins, CO, Madison Dinger, Portland, OR, Bryce Dinger, Newcastle, WA, Jack, Katie, and Griffin Wilhelmi, Stanley, ND. Three great-grandchildren, Leo Gasparotti, Gaius Buckley, and Evelyn Dinger. Siblings, Gaye Block, Beverly (Bob) Madison, and Dennis (Georgian) Dinger, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris and his parents Henry and Alice Dinger.

Memorials may be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research.
