Daniel Joseph Dosch passed away at Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, ND, January 7, 2025, after a brief struggle with cancer, with family by his side.
Dan was born March 20, 1948, in Devils Lake, ND, to Michael and Elizabeth (Wolfe) Dosch. He grew up in Devils Lake, graduating from St. Mary High School in 1966. He married Mary Zimmer in 1967, and welcomed three sons, Jeff, Steve, and Mitch. Dan worked in various grocery stores and for UPS before deciding to get into business ventures. For the next 20 years, he owned and operated different businesses in Devils Lake, including The Bootery, House of Bottles, and The Ye Olde Tavern. After his business ventures, he worked construction for Roers Construction, Fargo, and Dean Black Construction, Devils Lake. In his later years, Dan worked for LaFleur and Sons, Devils Lake, which became a focal point of his days and kept him busy. Dan spent some time as a Knights of Columbus member and as a volunteer firefighter for the Devils Lake Fire Department.
Dan’s favorite things to do were spending time with his sons and grandsons, hunting and fishing, going for drives around Cranberry Lake, and having a good time with friends. He was a lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan, frequently reminding his sons and grandsons that they would never win a Super Bowl in his lifetime. Dan also looked forward to participating in his annual fantasy football league.
Dan loved storytelling and always had a captivated audience with his sons, grandsons, nieces and nephews. They were always left wondering which stories were true or not, but loved hearing them all.
Dan is survived by his sons Jeff (Lisa) Dosch, Steve (Lola) Dosch, Mitch (Jen) Dosch, grandchildren Hunter, Braden, Ashton, Parker and Ryan Dosch; sister-in-law Sharon Dosch; nieces and nephews; long-time friend Valerie Skadsem. and his cats and daily companions, Sam and Pinky.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents Mike and Betty Dosch, and his brother Ronald Dosch.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Dosch, Braden Dosch, Ashton Dosch, Parker Dosch, Ryan Dosch, Toby Hoffner and Boyd LaFleur.
Honorary pallbearers, all of his co-workers and friends at LaFleur and Sons, and the old gang from the Ye Olde Tavern.
