Delores K. Fagerlund

Delores K. (Kaufer) Fagerlund, 90 of Devils Lake, ND, passed away at Eventide Heartland Care Center under the care of Altru Hospice on Thursday, August 17, 2017.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held next Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Delores was born Nettie Delores Kaufer on July 3, 1927 at Kenmare, North Dakota. She was the third child of Gust and Thelma (Durward) Kaufer.  She graduated from Noonan High School at Noonan, ND.  She then attended a secretarial school in Fargo, ND. Post World War II, she met Norris Fagerlund at a dance in Fargo, and married him December 4, 1946. They recently celebrated 70 years of marriage.  They moved to Devils Lake, where Norris secured a vocational agriculture teaching position.  She was a secretary with Powell/Kunkle Insurance Agency until she attained her Realtor’s and Broker’s licenses and started Fagerlund Realty.  Norris joined her in the business after retiring from teaching.  Delores served with the Ramsey County Housing Authority for many years. Delores loved gardening, baking, interior decorating, traveling, and playing duplicate bridge in both city clubs and sectional, regional and national competitions. She was most proud of earning her Life Master Award with the American Contract Bridge League.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Masonic Order of Eastern Star and Devils Lake Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.  She loved entertaining her friends and always had a new recipe to try out with them.  Delores and Norris had three children: Patricia (Paul) Zupancich, Ely, MN, Pamela Walker, Devils Lake and Gary Fagerlund, Penn, ND. She was the proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren and 5.5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews.  Delores is preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim Kaufer and sister Alice Enget who both lived in Minot, ND. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be directed to Altru Hospice or Eventide Heartland Care Center.Honorary Bearers are Delores's Grandchildren Christopher Zupancich and Toni Van Eyll, Abby Walker Gaskill, Holly Walker, Nathan Walker and Seth Walker and Great Grandchildren Carter and Tyler Zupancich, Jordan and Isabelle Van Eyll and Blaine Walker Gaskill.
