Delores Margaret, daughter of Charles and Eleanora “Lena” (Kozojed) Shereck was born on July 13, 1928 at rural Lankin, ND. She grew up on a farm at Lankin and attended the Latona Township School. She worked on her parents’ farm, cooked in the cook car and helped with chores inside and outside the house. Delores married Milton J. Zahradka on October 7, 1946. They established their home in Shepherd Township, rural Lawton where they farmed and ranched for over 60 years. Delores was a devoted farm wife and loving mother. She worked side by side on the farm and ranch, milking cows, hauling grain, doing whatever had to be done. She tended a large garden and was involved in the process from planting, to harvest to the delicious end products. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing and other craft projects and joyfully shared her creations with family and friends. In 1999, Delores and Milton moved to Devils Lake and would call it home until their deaths. Milton died on December 5, 2006. Delores resided at the Odd Fellows Home for the past 8 years. Delores was always very active in the churches and Altar Societies of Sts. Peter and Paul, St. Catherine of Lomice and St. Joseph Catholic Church, holding several offices and volunteering her time and talents to the special needs of the church. She also gave time to Eucharistic Adoration at St. Joseph Church. Delores was a hard-working, faith filled woman with a loving and caring heart and caregiver to many including her parents. She wanted to continue to care for others, so after retiring from the farm she earned her CNA Certification and worked for several years at Heartland Care Center. Delores and Milton enjoyed traveling as part of several Farmers Union trips and also through Dundee Insurance, where Milton worked. They also enjoyed membership with the Lawton Senior Citizens. Time spent with family and friends were her most treasured moments. Delores is survived by her loving family.
