Diana J. Haugland

Diana J. Haugland passed away at her home northeast of Hampden, ND on Friday November 26, 2021. 

Diana was born on June 2, 1945, in Oklahoma City, OK to Archie and Alma (Janzen) Hoffman.  Shortly after Diana was born, Archie was discharged from the Navy so the family moved back to the Munich area where Diana was raised and attended school with her 3 siblings.

On September 5, 1963, Diana was united in marriage to Wayne Haugland in Loma, ND.  They made their home on the Haugland farm northeast of Hampden, ND where they raised six children.

Diana loved living on the farm.  She was a hard worker and loved tending to her flowers, garden, and yard.  In her spare time, she enjoyed cross stitching and made many items for herself and family.  Her greatest pride was her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored.  She enjoyed making elaborate cakes for her children and grandchildren’s birthdays.  Diana was an excellent cook.  She enjoyed cooking for her entire large growing family for every holiday.  There was always plenty of food and her dressing was especially enjoyed.    

Along with raising her family, Diana was a cheerleader for basketball while in high school, taught Sunday school in Loma and Hampden, and was part of the Ladies Aid in Loma and Hampden.  She worked at the Nekoma Missile Base, the Hampden Café and started her own house cleaning business which she continued until her retirement.

Diana is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Wayne Haugland of Hampden, ND; son Tory (Barb) Haugland of Devils Lake, ND; daughters Jodi (Richard) Kurtz of St Michael, ND; Joni Haugland of Devils Lake, ND; Tanya (Mark) Pero of Duluth, MN; Trisa (Jason) Unruh of Aberdeen, SD; and Janna (Andrew) Haider of Munich, ND; sister Marilyn Sampson of Mesa, AZ; brothers Rod (Doreen) Hoffman of Munich, ND and Delwyn (Maria) Hoffman of Munich, ND; grandchildren Amanda (Kyle Cavanaugh) Haugland of Devils Lake, ND; Anthony (Meghann) McCloud of Casselton, ND; Adam (Doven Garner) McCloud of Devils Lake, ND; Michael (Shayna Ystaas) Haugland of Devils Lake, ND; Michelle (Trent Askelson) LaBrec  of Devils Lake, ND; Sara (Daniel) Hogan of Sahuarita, AZ; Alex Kurtz of St. Michael, ND; Ethan Unruh of Aberdeen, SD; Dylan (Tabitha Schmidt) Unruh of Aberdeen, SD; Haley (Robert Boyd) Haider of Grand Forks, ND; Hunter Haider of Fargo, ND; Hanna Haider of Grand Forks, ND; great grandchildren Mason, Quinntessence, Amaya, Draike, Percya, Meelah, Ethan, Ashton, Daxxon, Koraline, Kamdyn, Khloe, Brady, Addison, Cole, Daniel, & Tessa; & several nieces & nephews.

Diana is preceded in death by her parents Archie and Alma Hoffman; father-in-law and mother-in-law Earl and Norma Haugland; brothers-in-law Duane Sampson and Charles Barnes; and great grandchild McCloud.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Lyle Belleque officiating. Burial will be in the Storlie Cemetery, rural Hampden ND. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2^nd from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake.J.
