Donald LeRoy Logie, passed on Aug. 23, 2018, at the age of 85. Burial will be at the Storlie Cemetery in Hampden. Interment arrangements have been entrusted to Gilbertsons Funeral Home, Devils Lake. Born in Hampden, ND, the son of Ernest and Glora Logie. Donald attended school at Hampden and graduated from Northfield High School in 1950. After graduation he worked at Montgomery Ward in Minneapolis, MN, until he enlisted in the Air Force in 1951. He was stationed at Keesler AFB, Gulfport, Miss. On Aug. 17, 1952, he married Vera Woetovech. They remained in Mississippi until his honorable discharge in 1955 and then moved to Calif. where he worked for Bank of America for 32 years. Retiring as Assistant Vice President in 1986. In 1987, they moved to North Dakota to be near relatives. While there they belonged to the Grand Forks Senior Center and operated the food bank for five years. In 2001, they moved to Carson City, Nev. and became active in the Carson City Senior Center and Friends in Service Helping. He and his wife have received many awards, including the Jefferson Award, J.C. Penny Golden Rule Award, RSVP Volunteer Award, Community Spirit Award from Community Bank and KCNN radio station and the Sertoma Service to Mankind Award. He volunteered at FISH for nine years, the Carson Tahoe Hospital for 16 years and numerous years at the Senior Center. He is survived by; his wife, Vera of 66 years; sons, Bryan (Colleen) of Richmond Hill, Ga., Bruce of Stacy, MN, Brad (Jenny) of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., Dr. Brent (Dr. Genny) of Roseville, CA; grandsons, Nicholas, Victor, Ben; granddaughter, Katherine; step-grandchildren, Ashley (Steve), Charley (Michell); and three great-grandchildren, Stella, Dustin and Rordon; brothers, Arlyn (Loretta) of Watsonville, CA and Curtis (Marcee) of Starkweather, ND; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by; his parents; a daughter, Kim DeAnn; two grandsons, Joshua and Matthew Logie; brothers, Byron, Kenneth, Milton; and sisters, Marion and Gladys. |
