Doris L. Martinson, 87 of Mayville formerly of Hampden, North Dakota passed away on Wednesday morning, October 25, 2017 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND in the loving care of her family.  Doris Lorraine Schonauer, the daughter of Lawrence and Florence (Flott) Schonauer was born on February 27, 1930, in Belfield, ND. She was educated at Weaver and Alsen, ND, graduating from Hampden High School in 1948.  Doris was united in marriage to Marvin Martinson on October 31, 1948, at the farm of Doris’s parents. Together they raised six children.  Marvin and Doris spent many happy winters in Mesa, Arizona, where they reconnected each year with friends and family, golfing, playing cards, and dancing.  Doris and Marvin were charter members of Faith Lutheran Church in Hampden. Doris will be dearly missed by her children Barbara (Richard) Lunde, Grand Forks; Claire (Brent) Evans, Grand Forks; Richard (Cheryl) Martinson, Munich; Diane Blue, Littleton, CO; Lavonne (Jay) Liversage, Fargo; and Larry Martinson, Littleton, CO. Doris had a special affection for her loving grandchildren Jason Skaar, Jeff Skaar, Chad Lunde, Amy (Lunde) Swanson, Jo (Skaar) Sannes, Patrick Martinson, Casey Blue, Todd Lunde, Julie (Martinson) Metcalf, Heather (Kosobud) Krone, Bridget (Martinson) SIgette, Logan Martinson and step-grandchildren Sean Evans and Richard Evans, along with several great grandchildren. Other survivors include Doris’s sisters-in-law Donna Karel and Giselle Schonauer, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marvin; brother Vern Schonauer; brothers-in-law Alvin Peters, Richard Karel, Vernal Stotts and Pete Martinson; sisters-in-law Sharon Martinson and Marilyn Stotts. Doris’s family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Tufte Manor, Maple View Memory Care, Grand Forks and Luther Memorial Home, Mayville for the loving and compassionate care they provided for Mom the past five years. Doris was truly loved by her family and friends. She will be remembered for her love and support of family, her lifelong friendships, and her active presence in the community.  Serving as Casket Bearers for Doris will be her grandsons. Her granddaughters will serve as Honorary Bearers. Music will be provided by organist John Martinson, accordionist Lane Lindseth, vocalists High Plains Trio and Amy Swanson and daughters Lunden and Isabelle. .  Funeral Services for Doris will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, Edmore, ND with Reverend Don Reynolds and Jodi Myrvik, Minister officiating. Burial will be in the Storlie Cemetery, rural Hampden.  Visitation will be held on Friday, October 27th at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
