Doris J. Werner (Loehr)

Doris Werner, 85 of Alexandria, MN, formerly of Devils Lake, ND passed away Thursday, March 5^th surrounded by loving family. 

Doris was born in Devils Lake, ND and raised in Crary and Starkweather.

Doris graduated from Starkweather High School. In 1954 Doris was united in marriage to Ralph Loehr and they had three children, Wanda, Bruce and Brenda.  Doris worked many years as a telephone operator in Devils Lake and in retail prior to retirement.  Doris loved decorating for the holidays and found great joy in sharing her decorations with the grandchildren, family and friends!

Doris married Edwin Werner in 1981 and they made their home in Devils Lake where they took great pride in their lawn and outdoor holiday decorations being recognized several times with ‘Yard of the Week’ and Holiday Lighting awards.

In 2018 Doris moved to Alexandria, MN to be closer to family and her grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by husband, Edwin Werner, parents, Lee and Eva Johnson, sister, Evelyn Kunz and great granddaughter Alexis Holler.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Wanda Hooey (Randy) of Dakota Dunes, SD. Brenda Hanson (Pat) of Alexandria, MN.  Son, Bruce Loehr of Devils Lake.  Grandchildren, Chad Holler, Angie (Andy) Daniels, Randy (Mallory) Hooey Jr., Amanda (Chris) Dubuque, Cara (Jon) Herdegen, Ryan (Jessie) Hanson, Christopher (Nicole) Loehr, Shantel (John) Loehr and 11 great grandchildren.  Two brothers, Glen Johnson, Towner, ND and Gary Johnson, Mesa, AZ.

Funeral Services are pending for Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Reverend Lori Broschat officiating.  Burial will take place in the Devils Lake Cemetery at a later time.

Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday, March 11th from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and continue on Thursday until time of service.
