Dr. Earl "Ike" Isakson

Dr. Earl B. Isakson (Ike) passed away on Wednesday, June 1^st, 2022, at the Good Shepard Assisted Living Facility in Mesa Az at the age of 93. 

He was born to Emil and Verbena Isakson on October 1^st, 1928, in Oakes ND.  Ike went to Oakes High school, the University of North Dakota, and Chicago School of Optometry where he met Susan Bille and were married in Chicago Illinois on April 12, 1952.  Susan died on March 18, 1988 at the age of 58.

 Ike started his optometric career in Williston ND where both Eric and Peter were born. The family then moved to Devils Lake where he opened his own practice.  On September 11, 1993, Ike and Lois Maybelle Linde were married at the Lutheran Church by Woodland Resort.

Ike was a member of the Masons, Shriners, Devils Lake Elks, and Eastern Star.  He and Susan were very avid supporters of the Devils Lake American Legion baseball program and never missed a game – home or away.  Ike enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, pontoon rides and s’mores.

Ike and Lois spent summers in their home at Creel Bay and winters in Mesa until they sold their home outside of Devils Lake.  They loved traveling, holding extravagant parties and spending time with family and friends. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister – Lorene  McDonald, son – Peter Isakson and Lois’s son – Todd Linde

Survivors include:  Lois Isakson – spouse Mesa Az; Earl’s side of the family: son Eric and wife Lynn, Saint Paul MN - grandson Aaron ,  Grand Forks ND - grandson Adam and wife Mary Jane Delgado Isakson, Edmonton Alberta – grandson Chris and wife Jayme Isakson, Fargo ND - granddaughter Lea Znidarsich and husband Jake, Madison WI – granddaughter Amy Stennes and husband Marc, Grand Forks ND and 5 great grandsons and granddaughters, brother James Isakson and wife Nancy, Sheridan, WY. 

Lois’s side of the family:  daughter Lori Pickard and husband Scott, Florence AZ – son Clark Linde and wife Connie, Devils Lake ND - Lisa Linde, Queen Creek AZ - grandson Jace Nybo and wife Morgan - grandson Bryce Nybo and wife Addie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Apache Wells Community Church in Mesa AZ on Saturday, June 8, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.  There will also be a Masonic Service held at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake ND on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. conducted by the Brothers of the Devils Lake Lodge #21. Burial will follow in the Devils Lake Cemetery. The service will be available on www.gilbertsonfuneralhome.com on Saturday, June 25^th.
