Duane C. Heer

Duane C. Heer, 80 of Devils Lake, ND, formerly of Sioux Falls, SD passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 at his home. 

Duane C. Heer, son of Frederick Heer Jr. and Elizabeth (Bezug) Heer was born on February 19, 1938 at Olivet, South Dakota. He was raised and educated in Olivet, and was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, Olivet, SD.

Duane joined the Army in October of 1958. He was honorably discharged and returned to Olivet where he met Armelle Walter.  Duane and Armelle were married and moved to Sioux Falls, SD.  He worked for many years at Spence & Greenly Foods Packing House.  In 1978, Duane started his own landscaping company.  When his son Brad was old enough, he joined Duane and the two worked together until Duane’s retirement.  Upon his retirement, Duane moved to Webster, SD for a time and then to Devils Lake, ND in April of 2018.

Duane was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed visiting with everyone he meet and brought joy to many.  He will be truly missed by his son and all who had the opportunity to know him

Duane is survived by his son Bradley (Rayelle Hite) Heer, Devils Lake, ND; sisters Deloris Haffner, Mitchell, SD and Shirley (Donald) Kramer, Henderson, NV.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Armelle in 1999.
