Edwin Larry Werner died on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 surrounded by his family after battling cancer for four years.
Services will be Monday June 18, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Church, Starkweather, ND with Reverend Robert Buechler officiating. Burial will be in the Storlie Cemetery, Hampden, ND.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 17th from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a time of prayer and remembrance at 5:00 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Ed was born in Cando ND on January 20, 1963 to Ione (Ivesdal) and Larry Werner. He attended school K-11 in Hampden until the school closed in 1980. He graduated from Starkweather High School with the Class of 1981. He was baptized and confirmed in the Hampden Methodist Church. Ed never strayed far from his roots. He loved the country life and the outdoors and farming. He farmed with his brother and Dad and in 2015 was forced to retire because of the cancer.
On January 24, 1992 he married Christy Daniels in Devils Lake ND. They were the parents of two sons, William and Christian. They enjoyed camping and hockey. Besides his boys, Ed's passions were hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and being with his family and friends at the lake.
He had many friends and family members who supported him through the years he struggled with this horrible disease and was so humbled by their caring and generosity.
Ed his survived by his two sons, William Werner and Christian Werner and their mother Christy Werner. He is also survived by his sister Merrie Kaye Kakela, Langdon ND (Bruce Stremick-close friend to Ed) brother, Lee (Carla) Werner of Hampden ND. His nephews, Jesse Hermanson, Jordan Hermanson, Rudy Kakela, his nieces, Sara (Nathan) Erickstad, Kori (Ryan) Howatt, and Carly (Reid) Kuchar; 4 great nieces and one great nephew Felicity, Aubrey and Gage Erickstad, Blake Kuchar and Austin Howatt; uncles and aunts Tom Ivesdal, Mary Werner, Butch and Julie Hamre and several close cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers for Ed will be Jesse Hermanson, Jordan Hermanson, Rudy Kakela, Nathan Erickstad, Ryan Howatt, and Reid Kuchar. Music will be provided by Kelly Hamre and Elizabeth Berg.
