Ferry Lynn Demarce, 54 of the Spirit Lake Nation passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND

A Wake for Ferry will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023 at the Woodlake Wellness Center, Tokio, ND beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Time of Sharing at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Woodlake Wellness Center. Ferry will be laid to rest at St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Ferry Demarce, born April 18, 1969 to Anna Jane Quintana and Harry Mni.  Ferry  grew up on the Spirit Lake Nation with family.   Her grandpa Frank was one of her favorite people.  She attended Warwick Public School and spent some time at Job Corps in Minot. 

She loved to draw and often drew for others.  She loved to bead and taught her daughters how to also.  She was also great at crosswords.  She was always happy to entertain company over coffee and music. 

Ferry was loved dearly as a mother, sister, grandmother, cousins and friend.  Ferry struggled on and off throughout life but never stayed down.  She could not be defeated.  She was a warrior, not just a survivor.  She will be dearly missed but now she is free.

Ferry is survived by her children Anthony “Tony” Weiker, Samantha “Sam” Littleghost, Anastasia “Tasha” BlueShield, Danielle “Nell” BlueShield, Ethan Cote, Elly BlackBird; grandchildren Nadine, Allasandra, Taytum, Jericka, Karter, Carlos, Toby, Sergia, Kyler, Greysyn, Saphira, Samarah and Hermione; sisters DeeAnn DeMarce, Harriet, DeMarce, and brother Mark DeMarce; cousins Bonnie LeftBear, Clarence LeftBear Sr., Andy DeMarce Sr., Marshall DeMarce, Marlyn DeMarce, Preston DeMarce; nieces Hope, Fernanda, Lupe, Ashley, Alisa, Dusty; nephews Billye, Jeffery, Julius, AJ, Cody, Dakota and Nicholas.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Frank and Bertha (Ironhawk) DeMarce; mother Anna Jane Quintana; son Dennis BlueShield; uncles Andy DeMarce Sr., Thaddeus “Tonto” DeMarce; aunts Catherine Thompson, Hilda “Skee” Weiker; sister Leona Erck; cousins Thaddeaus DeMarce Jr., Maxine Paul; nephew Damien “DJ” Greywater; grandson Avery Lyn BlueShield; special friend Gerald Guy.
