Frances M. Schwab, 78, of Devils Lake ND passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at her home in the loving care of her family. Frances Marie (Volk) Schwab was born at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby ND, to Christine (Keller) and Christian Volk on March 23, 1942. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anselm’s Fulda Parish. Growing up on the family farm and attending Country School Ness #1, grades 1 thru 8 and attending high school in Rugby, graduating in the class of 1960. Frances moved to Devils Lake in the fall of 1960 and began employment at the Lake Region Clinic from 1960 to 1962. She was united in marriage to Richard Schwab on September 8th, 1962. They were blessed with 2 sons, Kent and Kyle. Her family was the light of her life. Frances began employment at Mercy Hospital as an OB Technician in 1968. Many long-lasting friendships were made during that time and many babies were born who are now having babies of their own. She began employment at Altru Clinic Lake Region in 1993. Retiring in 2008, she enjoyed so many simple things in life; she loved to visit their son in Phoenix and also accompany Richard transporting vehicles for the Chrysler Center. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and tending to her flowers every summer. She loved having Holidays with her family. She had a great love for all animals and had many pets in her lifetime. Fran especially enjoyed her birds which she kept well fed both winter and summer. Fran was a member of St. Joseph Church and member of the Infant of Prague Circle. Fran’s loving family include her husband Richard; sons Kent and his family (Jackie and children April, Bradley and Allie) and Kyle; sisters Delores Isakson; brother Richard (Lois) Volk and many nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents Christian and Christine Volk, sisters and brothers-in-law Elizabeth (William) Meyer, Dorothy (Earl) Solem, John Isakson and Duane Schwab, sisters-in-law Marlene Volk and Geneva Schwab, niece Jacque Schwab and twin nephews Jerry and Billy Meyer. As per Fran’s wishes and the COVID restrictions, there will be no services at this time.
