Gary H. Bachmeier, 59 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, surrounded by loving family. Mass of Christian Burial for Gary will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with the Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Gathering of family and friends will be at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service and time of remembrance at 5:00 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the Mass. Gary Harold, son of Peter and Klara (Ohnesorg) Bachmeier was born on July 28, 1958 at Devils Lake, ND. He was raised in the Crary, ND area and graduated from Crary High School with the class of 1976. Growing up, Gary spent many hours hanging drywall for his Dad and working alongside his brothers. He later worked for Goodyear Tire. Gary married Dianne Skadsem and they were the proud parents of Jesse and Travis. Gary then began working as a heavy equipment operator for Lake Region Asphalt and continued employment after the business was sold to Strata. He continued as a long time, hard-working, dedicated employee of Strata until his death. In the off season, Gary worked for Minnie H Snow Removal. Gary married Tabitha Rinehardt and they happily welcomed another son, Garrett to the family. Gary loved the outdoors. He especially loved time at the lake at East Bay Landing through the years with his Dad and brothers and most recently had spent hours and hours developing the lot so that the good times could continue with his sons and grandchildren. Gary was always there to help the boys with their projects and never missed an opportunity to be with his grandkids and take in their activities. He also enjoyed going to the Casino, cruising around town and visiting with his brothers. Gary’s passion was his Harley. He purchased his pride and joy “Harley” and treasured each day he had to ride the open road. His many old friends and new found friends shared this passion with him. Gary is survived by his loving family. His sons Jesse (Jennifer) Bachmeier, McVille, ND, Travis Bachmeier, Devils Lake and Garrett Bachmeier of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren Shayann and Mason; brothers Frank Bachmeier, Devils Lake, Jim (Sue) Bachmeier, Coon Rapids, MN, Donald Bachmeier, and Scott (Kay) Bachmeier all of Devils Lake; special friend Julie Fayant Al-Sharairi also of Devils Lake; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Steven. Casket Bearers: Chris Bachmeier, Mike Bachmeier, Scotty Bachmeier, Kyle Bachmeier, Bradley Davidson and Tyler Schiele.
