Gary Lee Fahrnkopf

Gary L. Fahrnkopf, 60 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Saturday morning, December 22, 2018 at CHI, St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake Hospital.

Funeral Services for Gary will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Reverend Bonnie Weaver officiating. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 29th at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.

Gary Lee Fahrnkopf was born on February 6, 1958 at Rolla, ND the son of Joseph and Esther (Lehmann) Fahrnkopf. He was reared in Hansboro and at a young age, moved with the family to Devils Lake and called it home the rest of his life. He attended Devils Lake Public School and after graduating began working for the City of Devils Lake on September 1, 1978 and was a dedicated employee for 30 years, retiring on June 17, 2008. Gary did not stay retired long and became a carrier for the Grand Forks Herald in January of 2009 and was employed with the Herald at the time of his death.

Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a charter member of several Wildlife Clubs. He loved the outdoors and the beauty of nature. He loved spending time with his family, especially his nephews and nieces.

Gary’s loving family include his siblings Robert Fahrnkopf and friend Patsy of Rolla, ND, Earl Fahrenkopf and his wife Karen of Williston, ND, Lois Wood, Rolla and Doris Martin and her husband Gary of Bisbee, ND and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Clarence, Joe and Ken Fahrnkopf, sister Eldora Burns and a sister in infancy.
