She grew up on the family farm, rural Penn, ND and was educated at the Penn School. On June 10, 1946, Gen was united in marriage to Raymond C. “Tot” Foss at Crookston, MN. They established their home in Grand Harbor Township, later moving to Penn, ND and to their farm in 1956. They farmed in Pelican and Grand Harbor Townships of Ramsey County and Riggin and Second Commissioner District of Benson County until the rising waters of Devils Lake forced a move into Devils Lake in 1997. Genevieve was involved in the farming operation and when the children were older she worked in Central Supply at Mercy Hospital and at the Rexall Drug both in Devils Lake. She also worked as a bartender for many years at the Minnewaukan Bar. Gen was an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the WELCA. She also enjoyed membership in the VFW Auxiliary and the Eagles Auxiliary and a club of ladies who got together each month, played cards, had lunch and visited. This group went by several different names through the years, but a good time was always had by all. Gen loved her gardens and especially tending her many beautiful flower beds. She frequently made floral arrangements for weddings, showers and other family events. Gen was a people person. She was in her glory when she was around her dear family and many friends. And a stranger was never a stranger very long with Gen, as they struck up a conversation. Genevieve is survived by her loving family. Her daughter Lynda (Terry) Glaser of Michigan; sons Larry “Tony” (Jeanne) Foss of Arizona and Danny (Karla) Foss of Devils Lake; grandchildren Shannon Glaser, Ryan (Dareen) Foss and Sara (Leigh) Bridges; great grandchildren Malik and Aliyah Bridges; special nieces Debbie Frank and Karen Litzinger; sisters-in-law Caroline (Bernie) Bryl and Idelle Foss; brothers-in-law Harold (Corrine) Foss, Edwin (Elsie) Foss and Richard (Rita) Foss along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond on May 22, 1998, an infant daughter and sisters Bernice Sharbono, Mary Starret and Maxine Christianson. Serving as Casket Bearers: Ryan Foss, Jerry Reeves, Darren Paulson, Chris Teigen, Mark Schafer and Brad Foss.
