Jenny Pulst

Genevieve "Jenny" Pulst, 92, of Devils Lake, ND, was finally called Home on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 2:00pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake, with a time of fellowship to follow in the Parish Center.

Genevieve Marie, daughter of Henry and Barbara (Steffan) Englehart, was born on April 6, 1932, in Devils Lake, ND. Jenny attended St. Mary's Academy. She met her future husband and true love, Lester Pulst, at a talent show in Starkweather, where Lester's talent was singing. They fell in love, and were united in marriage on November 23, 1949, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake, and called Devils Lake home for the rest of their lives.

First and foremost, Jenny was a devoted wife, and beloved mother and grandmother. Along with raising their eight children, she was a dedicated employee at Minnie H Laundry for 19 years.

Jenny had many talents, and enjoyed a variety of pastimes. As a gifted seamstress, she made clothes for her family, using the same pattern (and sometimes the same fabric) to dress the girls alike. She, also, enjoyed sewing costumes for the kids' school programs, Halloween, Crazy Daze, Moonlight Madness, the Bicentennial celebration in 1976, and wedding and bridesmaid dresses for the family. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, Sudoku, and jigsaw puzzles. She did needlework on plastic canvas, and shared her creations with family and friends, including earrings made of the plastic canvas and colored paper clips, which she wore often. Jenny always had fun playing BINGO at the Elks. She loved angels, and had over 100 in her collection.

Jenny was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Altar Society, and also enjoyed membership in the Eagles Auxiliary. 

Jenny is survived by her loving children: daughter-in-law Margot Tong-Pulst, Ashville, NC, Linda Adams, Tea, SD, Lana Pulst, Fargo, ND, Leona (Rick) Eversvik, New Rockford, ND, Luella (Derrall) Myers, Hampden, ND, Lori (Noe) Jimenez, Shelly, MN, Jim (Peggy) Pulst, Fargo, ND, and Lisa (David) Cain, Blue Springs, MO; 14 grandchildren: Michael (Janice) Pulst/ Lanette (Rodger) Campbell, Lowell (Conny) Rader II/ Travis (Amanda) Sten, Kaycee (Troy) Johanson/ Justin (Mary Ann) Myers, Aaron (Shanna) Myers, Courtney (Drake) Fisher/ Xavier (MaLeah) Jimenez, Ganon Lurreen/ Alec (Ari) Pulst, Jace (Alison) Pulst, Linda (Kwame) Bamfo/ Alleson (Ronnell Shelby) Cain, Christopher (Emily Schroeder) Cain, Courtney (Jesse) Sutherland; 25 great grandchildren, plus one on the way; one great, great grandchild; brother Robert (Carolyn) Englehart, Fergus Falls, MN; brothers-in-law Don Farmen, Costa Mesa, CA, and Marvin Pulst, Washington; sisters-in-law Charlotte Erickson, Carrington, ND, Delores (Mel) Weisenberger, Jamestown, ND, Phyllis (Louis) Tanner, Georgia, and Dorothy (Duane) Most, Colorado; many dear nieces and nephews, and their families. 

Jenny was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester on May 9, 1995, son John Pulst on January 15, 2025, sons-in-law Rick Adams and Orrson Sten, sisters and brothers-in-law Jeanne (Ken) Axtman, Helen (Howard) Bye, Fran Farmen, Vivian (Leonard "Bud") Eng, brothers and sister-in-law Charles (Irene) Englehart and Henry "Junie" Englehart Jr., as a child.
