George Bosch, 83 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND with loving family at his side.
George Bosch, son of Michael and Katherine (Senger) Bosch was born on January 5, 1936 at Devils Lake, ND. He was reared and educated in Warwick, graduating from Warwick High School. He then attended the Moler Barber School in Fargo.
George was united in marriage to his beloved Pat Engelhart on October 23, 1957 at Devils Lake. They lived, worked, raised their family together and shared nearly 62 years of love and devotion in marriage.
George entered the Army National Guard in July of 1959 and was called to active duty in the fall of 1961 during the Berlin Crisis. He continued his service with the Guard and retired after 21 years.
After their marriage George and Pat made their home in Minot and George worked as a barber. In 1967 they moved to Garrison and for 30 years, George was the purchasing agent for Garrison Memorial Hospital and managed the ambulance service. He also was an Associate Broker in the Real Estate business. Eventually he semi-retired and spent winters in Arizona beginning in 2000. In September of 2018, they “came home” to Devils Lake.
George was always involved. He proudly served his country, his church and his community. He was active in St. Nicholas Catholic Church and sang in the choir. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, held several offices including Grand Knight. He was a member of the Toastmasters, Eagles Lodge and the American Legion and served on the Boy Scout board.
George enjoyed playing the drums with several bands throughout the years, including the Garrison Jammers. His other interests included camping, a good game of cards and good conversation with family and friends. He dabbled in bee keeping, potato farming and running a bait shop. George knew the importance of a good work ethic, was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and always led by example.
Loving family include his wife Pat; sons Kevin (Susan) Bosch, Minot, ND, Larry (Stacy) Bosch, Brighton, CO and Steve (Jackie) Bosch, Argusville, ND; daughters Kari (Scott) Muehler, Wahpeton, ND and Julie (Brian) Grosenick, Great Falls, MT; eleven grandchildren Joshua (Jenny Hintz) Kinn, Ben (Nikki) Kinn, Morgan Muehler, Ryan (Britney) Muehler, Joshua Muehler, Zack (Morgan) Farley, Matthew Bosch, Gavin Grosenick, Landon Grosenick, Samantha Bosch and Paige Bosch; great grandchildren Regan and Dax Muehler; brothers Joe (Marie) Bosch and Mike Bosch, Devils Lake, Paul (Issable) Bosch, Sebeka, MN and Ed (Ellie) Bosch, Minot; sisters Mary Lauinger and Margaret Lange both of Devils Lake; many nieces, nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Karla; siblings Anton Bosch, Arnold Bosch, Jean Chepulis, Emma Miller and Leona Nelson and in-laws Lawrence and Cecelia Engelhart.
Funeral Services for George will be held on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Mr. Ken Severinson officiating.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. The Rosary will be led by the Knights of Columbus. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team.
Burial will be in the Fargo National Veterans Cemetery, Harwood, ND at a later date.
