George Victor Kuntz, 81, of Roseburg, Oregon passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Chantele’s Loving Touch Facility in Sutherlin, OR.

Geroge was born on April 23, 1943, to George E. and Johanna (Bohl) Kuntz in Rugby, ND. He was raised on the family farms in the Fulda and Orrin, ND areas before moving with the family to Devils Lake in October of 1955.

George moved to California at the age of 17. He eventually enlisted in the United States Navy in 1963 as a Seaman Recruit. He served overseas and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He received several commendations until he achieved the rank of Petty Officer First Class. While serving in the Navy, he met and married Patty Witter in San Lorenzo, CA in 1968, making their home in San Diego, CA. George remained in the Navy until 1973.

George then embarked on a career in business. He owned and operated a Laundry and Dry Cleaners in San Francisco. He strived and enjoyed his success in all his endeavors and success in business. He met many supportive friends. He cultured and treasured those friendships. He held himself to high standards and ideals. He was successful in several, basically all, business ventures.

George became a pilot and loved flying his planes. When he retired, he looked for property with a private landing field and hanger for his planes. Roseburg, OR became his home.

George was ambitious and highly motivated. Hard work was something he enjoyed and was a self-proclaimed “workaholic.” Never one to be idle, he invested in more real estate and purchased an apartment building. He was the manager and maintained the building on his own. He enjoyed his new community and served his community well. He was a man of faith and gave generously the fruits of his labor and time through his philanthropy.

George loved his God, family, and his country. He served others quietly. He was always willing to help when he saw a need.

George is survived by his daughter Gina Laurich, San Ramon CA and his twin grandchildren Holly (Daryle) San Lorenzo CA and brother Louis; great granddaughter Ella; step children Lisa (Frank), Sparks NV and Angie (John), California; sisters Betty (Elizabeth) Wentz, Bismarck ND, Maggie (Magdalene) Hermanson, Devils Lake ND, Joan (Odin) Gleason, Tolna ND, Bernadette Wentz, Devils Lake and Barbara (Larry) Zahradka, Devils Lake; brother Richard (Wanda) Kuntz, Devils Lake; sister-in-law Verna (Nick) Kuntz, Devils Lake and numerous nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents George and Johanna, sisters and brothers-in-law Frances (Gordon) Moe, Amelia (John) Schnitt, Rebecca (Covertt) Long, Wendell Wentz, Milfred Hermanson and James Wentz; brothers Nick, Peter, David and Joseph Kuntz, stepson Clayton preceded him as well.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Pastor Jeff Kapelle officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery with Military Honors.
