Georgine L. Miller

Georgine L. Miller, age 99 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd of New Rockford, ND.

Georgine Loraine Polak was born July 3, 1923 in Michigan, ND, the daughter of the late James and Helen (Rose) Polak.  She grew up in Whitman, ND.  She was united in marriage to Edward J. Miller on June 20, 1944 at the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Michigan, ND.  They farmed by Mapes, ND.  They later purchased a farm in the Bartlett, ND area where they raised their children and lived for 29 years.  In 1978 they retired and moved to Devils Lake.  They later moved to a farmstead by Doyon, ND, where they lived for 10 years.  In 2007 they moved back to Devils Lake.  Edward passed in 2009 and Georgine continued to reside in their apartment until October, 2022, when she moved to the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd.

Georgine enjoyed life to the fullest, always having a positive attitude with no complaints.  She so loved her husband, family and grandchildren.  She loved having company who would enjoy a cup of coffee along with a huge display of all her baked goods.  Before moving to the city, her favorite passion was filling the yard with flowers and growing a huge garden so that she could can fruits and vegetables for the winter.  She always kept herself busy with crocheting, needlepoint, word puzzles, card games, baking, cleaning, organizing and most of all winning at the Casino, right up to the point of making her last move! Family, grandchildren and friends were always welcomed with open arms and a big smile.

She is survived by her children: Raymond (Cheri) Miller, Lakota, ND, Darlette Miller, Litchfield, Tennessee, Joanne Dion, Devils Lake, Janet (Roger) Elshaug, Casa Grande, AZ, Randy (Cindy) Miller, Cavalier, ND and Kathy (Terry) Johnson, Texas; 16 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, son-in-law, Terry Dion, grandson David Dion and brother Edward Polak.

Rosary and Scripture service will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake, ND on Tuesday, March 21, 7:00 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 10 am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake,  followed by a burial at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  Lunch will follow.
