Gladys M. Moen, 85 of Devils Lake formerly of the Whitman, ND area passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 at the Eventide Heartland Care Center in the loving care of her family and Altru Hospice. Gladys fought a courageous battle against cancer for the past 3 years.

Funeral Services for Gladys will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Reverend Jim Paulson officiating. Gladys will be laid to rest in the Devils Lake Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Gladys Margaret Zahradka was born on March 21, 1934, daughter of Valerion and Rose (Kubat) Zahradka at Lawton, North Dakota. She attended school at Lawton, ND and Park River, ND.  She was employed at the Walsh County A.S.C. office in Park River, ND from 1952 to 1955. 

In 1955, Gladys was united in marriage to Clinton Moen at Lankin, ND. They lived and farmed near Whitman, ND.  In 1981, she moved to Devils Lake where she was employed at the Dakota Motor Inn Restaurant for 17 years. 

Gladys was a faithful member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the WELCA. She enjoyed playing BINGO and watching the TLC channel.  She embroidered and made dollies as gifts and mementoes of special family occasions and shared her many creations with friends and family through the years.  Gladys loved attending her grandchildren’s activities and was their greatest fan.  Gladys’s family was her pride and joy, she loved them with all her heart. 

Gladys is survived by her daughter Debra (Alvin) Schroeder of Devils Lake; son Jeffrey (Debra) Moen of Michigan, ND; five grandchildren Amber (Lance) Duey, Ryan (Chelsi) Schroeder, Sara (Clint) Neshem, Haley Jo (Trevor) Nielsen and Margo Moen; eleven great grandchildren Austin and Collin Duey, Brody and Madilynn Schroeder, Finley, Sloan and Scout Neshem, Sutton, Harper, Henry and Josephine Nielsen; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Margo Jane Moen, sisters Mildred Zahradka, Alice Cesik, Blanche Bata and Marion Birmingham and brothers Milton Zahradka and Laddie Zahradka.
