Glen N. Janzen, 64 of Devils Lake passed away at his home on Thursday, November 1, 2018.
Glen Neil Janzen was born on March 28, 1954 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake to David and Laura Janzen. He was raised and educated at Munich, ND, graduating from high school in 1974. Upon graduating, Glen moved to Devils Lake where he met the love of his life, Beverly Bingham.
On May 10, 1975, Glen and Bev were married and began their family together. Glen was a hardworking, fun-loving, story-telling German who had a love of the farm life. He worked several different jobs until ill health forced him to retire in 2014.
Glen always loved spending time with his kids, and grandchildren and was a big fan of the Philadelphia Eagles’, Carson Wentz. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Glen is survived by his faithful wife of 43 years, Bev; sons Michael of Devils Lake, Keith (Jody) of Watertown, SD; daughter Sandra (Christian) Svedberg also Devils Lake; five grandchildren Brittany Smith (Brian Seehafer) and Allyssa Janzen all of Watertown, SD, Kenny (Shaniel) Smith of North Charleston, SC, Elizabeth Svedberg of Van Wert, OH, Madison Svedberg of Devils Lake; two great grandchildren Kendall and Kamden Smith of North Charleston; brothers Norman, Jerry (Mavis) and Loren (Arlene) all of Devils Lake and Bob (Cheryl) of New Rockford, ND; sisters-in-law Bonnie Leiphon, Doris (Larry) Klebe, Marliss (Steve) Platz all of Devils Lake, Mary (Allen) Laughery, Maddock, ND, Dianne (Rudi) Bloomquist, Garske, ND and Karen Bingham, Brinsmade, ND; brothers-in-law Edward Bingham, Devils Lake, Mike (Peggy) Bingham, Brinsmade and Jerry Bingham, Grand Forks; many nieces, nephews and their families.
Awaiting Glen’s heavenly arrival were his parents David and Laura; in-laws George and Delores Bingham; sister-in-law Joanie (Mootz) Janzen; special friends Armond Romfo and Willis Romfo.
Casket Bearers will be Glen’s nephews Brad Janzen, Ryan Janzen, Dean Janzen, Matthew Klebe, Aaron Klebe, Bob Bingham and Martin Platz. Reading the Scriptures will be Becky Harris and LaShai Pfeifer. Gift Bearers will be Bonnie Leiphon, Doris Klebe, Marliss Platz, Mary Laughery and Dianne Bloomquist. Music will be provided by Jodi Kurtz and Joni Haugland.
Since September 22, 2013, Glen had valiantly fought Multiple Myeloma Cancer until his passing on November 1, 2018 surrounded by all of his loving family and Altru Hospice.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Steven Wirth celebrating the Mass. Burial will be St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Devils Lake.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 4th at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 4:30 p.m. led by Reverend Mr. Ken Severinson, Deacon. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
