Gordon (Gordy) Oakland Coploff, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at his home. He was 64.
Gordon Oakland, son of Robert A. and Elaine (Oakland) Coploff was born on June 18, 1960 in Florida. He grew up in Florida and in Las Vegas where he attended high school, and college. He worked at Catania and the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, then moved to Devils Lake, North Dakota to be closer to family.
While living in the Lake Region, Gordy had a variety of jobs including working as a bartender, Black Jack Dealer, and as a cook. He at one time worked at the Champions Bar, Proz Lakeside and Pizza Hut until increasing health problems forced him to retire.
Gordy loved his family, he loved people, loved to socialize and loved to cook. It was easy to combine all these loves into the blessing and treasure that was Gordon. A blessing that was shared with family and so many dear friends. It was so hard for Gordon when he just couldn’t be out and about like he wanted to be.
Whenever he could, Gordy enjoyed target shooting, fishing and tinkering with engines and projects. He was a supporter of the 2nd Amendment and a patriot.
Gordon’s life here on earth was too short, but filled with a loving and caring heart for family and friends. Rest in peace.
Gordy is survived by his sister Robin Steffan of Devils Lake and half-brother Steven Rinehardt also of Devils Lake, many cousins, and lots of relatives and his feline companion Jordie.
Gordy will be very missed by family and friends.
Gordon is in the care of the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake.
