Grace Martina Lambert, “Cante Ohitika Win”, (Braveheart Woman) 36, of Crow Hill, ND passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND with her loving parents by her side.
Visitation for Grace will be held Friday, November 27, 2020 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic the family requests all visitors please wear a face mask in the church and practice social distancing for the safety of the family and community. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday November 28, 2020. Grace will be laid to rest beside her beloved sister, Camille, in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery on Saturday, November 28th at 4:15 p.m. with Military Honors accorded by the Spirit Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6547.
Grace Martina Lambert daughter of Vernon and Velma (Dauphinais) Lambert was born March 25, 1984 in Grand Forks, ND. Grace grew up on the Spirit Lake Reservation and attended elementary school in the Devils Lake Public School system and Four Winds Public School, graduating valedictorian from Four Winds High School May 2002. She was baptized on May 2, 1984 and was later confirmed at Seven Dolors Catholic Church by Father Charles Leute.
Grace enter the US Army on June 19, 2003. Grace served her country in designated imminent danger areas; Iraq November 4, 2005 until October 13, 2006 and Afghanistan July 8, 2009 until July 6, 2010. During Grace’s military career, she earned many US Army Military Awards which included; Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Campaign Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with Two Campaign Stars, Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Army Good Conduct (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon (3rd Award), NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge and Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver Wheeled Vehicles Class. Grace was honorably discharged on September 12, 2010 with the rank of Specialist.
After her discharge, Grace returned home and began employment with the Fort Totten Police Department, graduating from the Bureau of Indian Affairs Police Academy with Class #A_LMPT-103 at Artesia, NM on May 25, 2011. Grace continued her education at Cankdeska Cikana Community College where she graduated with honors May 2014. She later moved to Bismarck, ND to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice, graduating from the United Tribes Technical College May 2016.
Grace left this earthly life much sooner than we had planned. She will forever be loved and missed by all who knew and loved her.
Grace is survived by her parents; Vernon and Velma Lambert; sisters and brothers, Blanche Lambert, Dorothy Lambert, Monique Lambert, Dawnette Nielsen, Erika Miller, Gracie Palazuelos, Rosemary Pease, Keema Fleming, Donovan (Terri) Lambert, Vernon Lambert, Jr, and her twin brother Charles Lambert; God Children, Victoria Feather, Macie Lambert, Mason Lambert and Catalina Lambert; Brother-in-law, Kyle WalkingEagle; God Parents, Hyllis Dauphinais, Sr. and Michelle Ironheart; Adopted Mother, Florine Harrison; Adopted son, Delano Wallace.
Grace was preceded in death by her grandparents; Peter and Dorothy Dauphinais and Charles and Grace Lambert; sister, Camille WalkingEagle; brother-in-law, Myron Wanna, Sr.; uncles, Jack Dauphinais, Mark Lambert, Eugene Lambert, Charles Lambert; aunts, Norma Rainbow, Lorraine Robertson and Sharon Lambert; niece and nephew Monica Lambert and Kenyon Littlewind.
