Guy “Casper” DeMarrais, 76 of Fort Totten, ND passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at CHI, St. Alexius, Devils Lake Hospital with loving family and friends at his side. Visitation for Casper will begin at his and Lynda Alberts home in Fort Totten on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave on Monday at 1:00 p.m. from City Plaza.  Casper will be at home until 5:00 p.m. and then he will be brought in procession to the Fort Totten Wellness Center for his Wake.  Casper’s Prayer Service will be held on Monday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services for Casper will be on Tuesday, May 9th at 10:00 a.m. at the Fort Totten Wellness Center with Eugene Hale and Kris White officiating.  Burial will be at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Fort Totten.  Guy Casper DeMarrias was born on January 12, 1941 at Sidney, Montana the son of Matt DeMarrias and Alice Johnson. Casper went to school at the old Fort Totten Calvary Square.  He was the last graduating class from there.  He played on the basketball team that went to the State Tournament in 1959.  In 1960, Casper met Carla Lowry and from this union they had three children. Casper and Carla moved to Texas so he could go to Auto Body Repair School.  They later divorced.  He moved back to Spirit Lake in 1985 and met the love of his life, Lynda Alberts and they married in 1985 and shared a wonderful life together until her passing in 2009. For 20 years, Casper was a Shuttle Driver until his health conditions forced him to retire. Casper enjoyed going to BINGO, pow-wows and rodeos and gambling. When he was home, he enjoyed watching TV.  His favorite shows were Bonanza, Family Feud and watching Bull Riding.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren.  In his younger years he was known for his talent to draw and they say he was a great artist.  Casper is survived by his loving family. His sister Ethlene Whitehawk; children Terry Herman (Catalina) Sr., Jetty (Ken) White, Lionel (Dani) DeMarrias and Shellen (Hector) Herrera; step children Leola, Alvina, Willy Jo and Babes; special granddaughter Alvina Longie and 32 other precious grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and the first great great grandchild to be born in August; special aunts Francine Counter, Evelyn Pilcher, Jingle Bells Demarrias; special cousins Sly Martin, Kirk DeMarrias, Jake DeMarrias and Geno DeMarrias; special nephews Eugene (Sylvia) Hale and Roger Alberts; very special niece Lavonne Alberts; sisters-in-law Marie Martin, Winona Fox and Sally Cavanaugh; brother-in-law Quentin Alberts and very special friend Michelle Thomas.  Those who have already journeyed to the Spirit World, his parents Alice Johnson and Matt DeMarrias; four sisters and four brothers Barbara Lee, Margaret, Abraham, George, Wayne, Mildred, David and Delores; his grandma Sarah Counter; his wife of 33 years Lynda Alberts; step son William “Boy” Longie, grandson Patrick White; great grandbabies Cante Fast Dog, Jace Long Chase and Lora Lee White and numerous aunts and uncles and other dear relatives. Active Pallbearers and Escorts will be Kirk DeMarrias, Sean DeMarrias, Jon White, Jody White, Chuck White, Jeff DeMarce, Terry Herman Jr., Derrick Longie, Billy Longie and BJ Philbrick. Honorary Bearers are Merval “Bobo” Sherman, Sly Martin, Big Jim Philbrick and family, Jake DeMarrias Jr., Jessie DeMarrias, Brookie Rattling Thunder, Lester Fast Horse, Frank DeMarrias, Frankie Chaske, Anna McKay, Zeta McKay, Jerry Blackbird, Darlene Putnam, Michelle Thomas, Leann Fox, Imogene Belgarde, Camilla McKay, Catalina Herman, Erica Philbrick, Maurice Alberts, Michelle Hale, Sylvia Hale, Gloria Alberts, Lonna and Richard Street, Daryl and Kim ThreeIrons, Sterling Restmeyer, Rodney Aguillar and Raymond and Maxine Buckles, Ghandi Shaw and all the Staff at Spirit Lake Casino. The Spirit Lake Singers, Duane Jackson Drum Group and any other Drummers and Singers are welcome to share their songs in memory of Casper. A special thanks to Spirit Lake EMS, Hospice, Dr. Downs and the Altru Staff of Devils Lake and Grand Forks. If we forgot to name any of Casper’s family and friends it was not intentional and please forgive us. Casper had many friends and relatives and he loved you all.
