Herb H. Feldner

Herbert H. “Herb” Feldner, 81 of Munich, ND passed away on Thursday morning, November 15, 2018 at CHI, St. Alexius Hospital, Devils Lake surrounded by his loving family. 

Funeral Services for Herb will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Munich with Reverend Scott Ramey officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Munich with Military Honors.

Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Sunday, November 18^th from 3:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.  Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Herbert Harold Feldner, son of Harold and Alma (Nordstrom) Feldner was born on April 28, 1937 at Donnybrook, North Dakota. At a young age, the family moved to Munich, ND where Herb attended school and graduated from Munich High School with the class of 1956. 

He entered the North Dakota Army National Guard on October 2, 1959 and was honorably discharged on July 1, 1965 with the rank of Specialist 4.

Herb was united in marriage to his dear Margaret Buchweitz on June 27, 1964 at Langdon, ND. They established their home on the Feldner Homestead and would live, work and raise their family there through the years. Margaret died on March 31, 2003.

Herb was a steward of the land and farmer, retiring in 1997. He may be described by many as a “character” and had many passions.  Fishing, deer hunting, Ford pickups, UND Sioux Hockey, his four grand dogs and visiting friends at the bowling alley.  But when it came to those things that were the most important to him, it was the love he had for his children and grandchildren. He was so proud of each and every one of them. He enjoyed time spent with his dear friends and family at all the family events and activities.

Herb’s loving family include his daughters Larissa and her husband Lynn Kadlec, Grand Forks and Ariana and her husband Steven Best of Bismarck; four grandchildren Megan and Benjamin L. Pesek and Isaac and Evan Best; brother Donald (Mary) Feldner, Starkweather; sisters-in-law Jeanette Feldner, Starkweather and Janice Buchweitz, Munich and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Margaret; brother John Feldner and in-laws Herman and Lucille Buchweitz.
