Hilda M. Weiker, 73 of Tokio, ND passed away in her home on Thursday, November 7, 2019.
Visitation for Hilda will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will continue on Friday one hour prior to the funeral Mass. The Rosary and Scripture Service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The procession to St. Michael will leave at 4:00 p.m. from City Plaza in Devils Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Paul Schuster celebrating the Mass and burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Hilda Mary Demarce was born on December 6, 1945 at Devils Lake, ND the daughter of Frank and Bertha (IronHawk) Demarce. Hilda lived her entire life on the Spirit Lake Nation. She graduated from Four Winds High School, Fort Totten and she was so proud to be able to teach the Dakotah language to many children at Four Winds School.
Hilda was united in marriage to Jacob Weiker in January of 1990 in Devils Lake. They lived and raised a family through the years in the Tokio area.
Because of her love and respect for the traditional ways, she enjoyed going to pow-wows and other events and activities on the Spirit Lake Nation. She loved cats and they were such good companions to her for many years. Hilda was a special woman who opened her home and her heart to many foster children. She loved her family with all her heart and her grandchildren meant the world to her.
Hilda is survived by her loving family. Her husband Jacob; son Anthony (Kollin) Weiker; daughters Mary Weiker and Samantha Littleghost; grandchildren (Anthony’s) Meyleah Weiker and another grandson soon to be born, (Mary’s) Kodda Weiker and Dominic Weiker, (Samantha’s) Nadine Littleghost, Ella Greenne and Tatum Greene; other grandchildren Frank Demarce, Sage Demarce, Charles Demarce and Marlene Demarce; nephews Andy Demarce Jr., Marlin Demarce, Preston Demarce, Marshall Demarce; aunts Bonnie Leftbear and family and Murial IronHawk and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters Andy (Lillian) Demarce Sr., Catherine (Art) Thompson, Thaddeus “Tonto” Demarce, Willard “Pom” Leftbear, Anna Jane Quintano, Maxine Longie and many other beloved relatives.
Casket Bearers will be Antony Weiker, Marlin Demarce, Marshall Demarce, Frank Demarce, Mary Weiker and Dion Jackson. Honorary Bearers will be Bonnie Leftbear and Family, Bill Greene and Family, Larry Thiele and Family, Kollen Weiker, Dacota Mensing and Family, Kodda Weiker, Jacob Weiker, Cindi Osife and family, Terry Smith and family.
