Holly Rae Lenoir “Sina Duta Winyan” (Red Shawl Woman), 34 of Devils Lake and the Spirit Lake Nation passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at her home.

Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Fort Totten on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Paul Schuster officiating. 

Holly Rae was born on July 17, 1985 at Devils Lake ND, the daughter of John Leftbear Sr. and Rose Bull. She grew up in Fort Totten and attended Four Winds School.  She successfully achieved her goal of completely courses and obtained her GED.  She continued her education at the Candeska Cikana Community College and was a certified welder. Holly was united in marriage to Jeff Lenoir.

Holly’s passion was drawing. She had such a creative eye and talent as an artist.  Holly loved kids and was always volunteering to baby sit for her nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Holly loved life, loved her family and friends but she struggled with health problems for the past several years. She did her best to face the challenges with a smile and with hope.  She felt blessed to have the love and support of her family throughout her short life. 

Holly is survived by her husband Jeff, Fort Totten ND; brothers Delson Bull and Johnny Leftbear and sister Maggie Leftbear all of Fort Totten; step dad Steve Burkhard, Devils Lake; grandmother Catherine Howard; step grandpa Ray Burkhard; nephews Braden Snell and Kalvon Kimmerly; aunts and uncles Patsy Owlboy, Karen Longie, Mary Bruce, Sheila Bull, Bonnie Bull, Julia Fox, Susan Bull, Angie Bull, Lawrence Bull, Alex Bull, James Bull, Clyde Bull, Jesse Bull, Bobby Joe Bull, Bobby Lee Bull, Derrick Bull, Ivan and Lynette Lovejoy Sr., Ralph and Francine Peoples, Melvin and Lisa Peoples Jr.; god child Jayla St. John and all the dear cousins and families of her aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Leftbear and Rose Bull; grandparents Clayton Bull Sr. and Ramona (Peltier) Bull and Moses Leftbear.

Casket Bearers will be Dakotah Bull, Nick Running Bear, Ralph Peoples, June Lovejoy, Trever St. John, Kalvon Kimmerly and Nathan Smith.

Honorary Bearers are all of Holly’s dear relatives, family and friends. Holly knew so many people from all over and she loved you all.
