Hope Louise Rough, 33 of St. Micheal, ND passed away on Thursday, August 3rd, 2017 in Grand Forks, ND. Hope, was born on February 5th, 1984 in Devils Lake, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Todd Rough Sr., and Marty Jackson. She was raised in St. Michael, North Dakota and attended Four Winds Elementary and High School. She received her G.E.D from Candeska Cikana Community College in 2004. During high school she participated in many activities including, Basketball and Upward Bound. She formed many lifelong friendships from her participation in Upward Bound. Hope pursued her education and obtained a Certified Nurses Assistant License. She enjoyed her work as a CNA where she gained employment at Heartland Care and Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake, ND. Hope also worked for several years at Spirit Lake Casino as a slot attendant, slot supervisor and as a security guard. The greatest joy she had was being a mother. She enjoyed watching her oldest son play football and basketball. She also cheered on her daughters at their basketball games and track & field meets. She also took them to community activities, powwows and Sun Dances. She made many friends in her short life and she was known to always have a smile on her face with a sweet feisty spirit and infectious laugh. Hope is survived by her mother Marty Jackson; daughters Kyli, Kailyn, Khalesha, and Taylor; Sons Daryel Jr. and Bradley Charboneau and their father Daryel Charboneau Sr,. Skyler Paul Little and his father Michael Little Sr.; Brothers Daniel “Sonny” and Todd Rough Jr.; Nieces and Nephews: Danica, DeShaundra, Laila, Lolita, Lakenya and Lyrick, Daniel “Dejay”, Romeo and Dakota; Godfather Samuel Merrick Sr.; Godmother Mary Rose Lebeau; Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Also her many family members from McLaughlin, South Dakota. Hope joins in the Spirit World her father Todd Rough; maternal grandparents Sylvester “PeeWee” and Rita Jackson; paternal grandparents Daniel and Melda (Takes The Hat) Rough; uncles Kenny Merrick Sr. and Dan Rough; aunt Mardell Jackson. Serving as Active Pallbearers Daniel Rough, Todd Rough, Lydell Merrick, Courtney Jackson, Daryl Charboneau, Marty Greywater, Kelly Stone, Nathaniel Lebeau, Vernell Jackson and Kyle Ironhawk. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers Magdeline Harrison, Madeline Harrison, Iris Black, Lacey Jackson, Connie Rainbow, Roberta Littleghost, Brenda Elizabeth Mayquomenbenias Jones, Rena Lohnes, Natasha Gourd, Roger Charboneau, Brittney Rough Surface, Joe Eversvik, Raine Crow, Grace Lambert, Lacey Cavanaugh, the Spirit Lake Ambulance, the Staff at Altru Health System in Grand Forks, ND and the many Spirit Lake Casino Employees she worked with. The Wake for Hope will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at St. Michael’s Recreation Center beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. from City Plaza.Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Paul Schuster celebrating the Mass. Hope will be laid to rest in St. Michael’s Cemetery. All Drum Groups are welcome to share their songs in memory of Hope.
