Jackuelyn C. Volk (Davidson)

Jackuelyn C. Volk, 77 of Devils Lake ND passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at her home in the loving care of family and Altru Hospice.

Funeral Services for Jackie will be held on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with burial in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Jackuelyn Carol was born on November 21, 1942 at Devils Lake ND the daughter of David and Doris Davidson. She grew up in Devils Lake, graduating from Central High School.  She continued her education at Lake Region Junior College, graduating with an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts. She also completed many hours of study to be a certified para legal. 

Jackie was united in marriage to Kenneth Lewis on September 29, 1962 in Rugby ND where they lived, worked, raised their family through the years. Kenneth died in December of 1974. 

Jackie was blessed to find love again and married Clement Volk on February 24, 1989 in Devils Lake after many years of dating. While living in Devils Lake, Jackie worked for Strata Concrete for many years.  After a move to Rolla ND, Jackie worked as a secretary for Filamore Industries a clothing manufacturing company.  Another move was to Watertown SD and Jackie was the secretary for a turkey processing plant for several years, retiring in 2006.  After retiring, Jackie and Clem returned to Devils Lake and have called it home since. 

Jackie treasured time spent with her precious family. They brought her great joy and many treasured memories. Her cat “Doc” was a constant companion. She had a green thumb and had tended many beautiful plants, flower beds and garden beds.  She could spend hours in her greenhouse.  She had a flair for shopping, especially for clothes and jewelry.  Retirement also brought the chance to board many a cruise ship and they traveled to many ocean ports, her favorite was St. Thomas Island. 

“Bon Voyage” dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. We will love you and miss you always.

Jackuelyn’s loving family include her husband, Clem; children Kenneth (Charlotte) Lewis Jr., Mobridge SD, Stacie (Troy) Deplazes, Larimore ND and Brian (Shirley) Lewis, Greenbush MN; grandchildren Brad (Mandy) Schmidt and Mike Schmidt, Christopher (Kellie) Wentz and Haley (Colby) Gannon, Josh Lewis and Levi Lewis; great grandchildren Mia, Kenneth, Noeh, Isabella, Christopher, Maya and Malika; sisters Joann Miller, Hillsboro ND and Doris Anderson, New Rockford ND; brother David (Eunice) Davidson, Devils Lake and many nieces, nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter April Renee Lewis.
