James "Bubs" M. LeVay

James “Bubs” M. LeVay, 65 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Lakota Good Samaritan Center, Lakota, ND. Funeral Services for Jim will be held on Tuesday, September 26th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake with Reverend Kevin Anderson, Pastor, River of Life, Assembly of God Church officiating.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until time of service.  Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND at a later date.  Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team. James Marvin, son of Joseph and Jean (Johnson) LeVay was born on October 13, 1951 at Grand Forks, ND. The family lived in many places during Jim’s young life but Williston, ND was called home for many years where he was reared and educated. Jim entered the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a helicopter machine gunner and helicopter co-pilot. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged with commendation for his honest and faithful service.     After his discharge, Jim followed in his father’s footsteps and worked as a trucker his entire life. He worked for several companies over the years, driving all over the United States.  He worked in the North Dakota oil fields, at Dahl Trucking in Langdon, Driscoll and Driscoll Inc. out of East Grand Forks and most recently during the beet harvest in the Red River Valley.  He loved trucking, looked forward to the harvest seasons but increasing health problems forced him to retire.  His trucker handle was “Bubs” and that was his name to his many dear friends. Jim was united in marriage to Sonja Lagerquist on July 15, 2003 at Sidney, Montana. They established their home in Williston, later moving to Devils Lake. In younger years, Jim enjoyed putting together model cars and the intricate work that it involved. He had an extensive collection of movies of all kinds that he enjoyed watching and sharing with others.  Jim was a caring and devoted husband and loved his Lord and Savior. He is survived by his beloved wife Sonja; his children and grandchildren; several siblings, nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
