Janis G. Hausmann

Janis G. Hausmann of Churchs Ferry, ND passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Woodside Village in Grand Forks, ND with loving family at her side. She was 87 years of age.

Funeral Services for Janis will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Havig-Heen Chapel at 4000 Valley Square, 4000 24^th Avenue South in Grand Forks.  Graveside Services will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Churchs Ferry Cemetery, rural Churchs Ferry.

Janis Gaile was born on March 5, 1931 on the farm at rural Churchs Ferry, the daughter of Hans R. and Eileen (Hanson) Hansen. She attended country school for several years and graduated from Churchs Ferry High School.  She continued her education at UND, graduating with a nursing degree. Janis was a member of the Gamma Phi Sorority.   

On September 16, 1954, Janis was united in marriage to Ronald B. Hausmann. They established their home on the family farm, where they together dedicated their lives to farming and raising their sons.  Janis and Ronald were avid travelers, including a trip to Russia for a farming tour.  They spent their winters in Tucson, Arizona.   Ronald died on January 6, 2015

Janis was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and the WELCA until the flood waters forced the church to close. Janis was a dedicated farm wife, doing the cooking, baking, swathing and the chores that needed to be done each day.  She was a talented seamstress, sewing quilts, curtains, clothing and so many items needed for her family and for their home. 

Janis is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Jeffrey and Diane Hausmann, Grand Forks and James and Karen Hausmann, Churchs Ferry; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren Ashley (Timothy) Rogers and their children Jackson and Riker, Trey (Nicole) Hausmann and their daughter Ava, Ryan Hausmann (Rebecca Patnaude) and their daughter Ellie, Thomas (Amanda) Hausmann and their children Ezra, Jake and Reece; Laura (Sam Benshoof) Hausmann and Steven Hausmann.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ronald and infant daughter Susan.
