Jefferey Louis WhiteBuffalo, 51 of Devils Lake and the Spirit Lake Nation, began his journey to the Spirit World on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Sanford Health in Fargo ND with his family by his side.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Fort Totten Recreation Center. The procession to Fort Totten will leave on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from City Plaza in Devils Lake. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. at the Recreation Center with burial to follow at the Presbyterian Cemetery, Crow Hill, rural Fort Totten. Reverend Larry Thiele will officiate the services.
Jefferey Louis WhiteBuffalo was born June 29, 1970, to Donna (Longie) and Homer WhiteBuffalo in Devils Lake ND. Jeff attended Kicking Horse Job Corp in Montana, graduating from the cooking program. He continued his education at Cankdeska Cikana Community College (CCCC) from 1992 to 2018. Most recently he was enrolled in the Associates of Arts Program of Indigenous Studies, also known as the Voices of Our Ancestors.
Jeff worked for several years at the Spirit Lake Casino until his health declined and forced him to retire.
Our hearts ace with such sadness. Our precious Dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend has begun his journey to the Spirit World. We will forever love and miss him.
Jefferey is survived by his loving family. His mother Donna WhiteBuffalo; brothers Tyler and Tracy WhiteBuffalo; sisters Tamara WhiteBuffalo and Sonya Bull; daughters Jennifer, Kelsey and Felisha WhiteBuffalo; grandchildren Kiara Littlewind, Keira WhiteBuffalo, Kieran WhiteBuffalo, Sincere Cavanaugh, Halle Cavanaugh, Mia Cavanaugh, Landon Littlewind, Dallas Littlewind, Dallas Littlewind, Luke Littlewind, Markel Littlewind, Dante WhiteBuffalo, Dondrae WhiteBuffalo and Lena WhiteBuffalo; uncles Tim DeMarce Sr. and family, Dave “Big Dave” Longie and family; aunts Francine (Russ) McDonald, Lili DeMarce and family.
Jeff will be reunited with his Dad Homer WhiteBuffalo and daughter Loretta WhiteBuffalo, his grandmothers Rose WhiteBuffalo and Loretta Jerome DeMarce.
Pallbearers will be Tim DeMarce Jr., Marshall Longie, Justin WhiteBuffalo, Darcy Longie, Marshall Longie Jr., and Cody Merrick. Honorary Bearers will be Swan American Horse, Russ and Francine McDonald, Doveta Cavanaugh, Sally Cavanaugh, Bev LaBelle, Leona DuBois, Loretta DuBois, Trent Anderson, Tim Trottier Jr., Autumn WhiteBuffalo, Rose LaBeau and family, Clayton “Stubby” and Myra DuBois, Alex Bull and Family, Nick Woods and Roseann Feather.
