Jeff Huber, 65 of Devils Lake ND passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, in the loving care of his family and Hospice.
Jeffery Allen Huber, the son of John Lewis and Lauraine Ruth (Pruyn) Huber was born on April 12th, 1957, in Minot, ND. Jeff moved to Devils Lake with the family in 1960 at the age of two.
Jeff graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1975. He then moved to Grand Forks to work at a movie theater, which is where he met his love, Brenda.
Jeff and Brenda were united in marriage on February 9th, 1979, at the Holy Family Church in Grand Forks, ND. After marriage Jeff and Brenda moved to Pierre, South Dakota to manage a movie theater.
In 1981, Jeff and the family moved back to Devils Lake and Jeff worked for Kenny Koehn at Kenny’s Family Restaurant. In December of 1982, Jeff started working for Mr. J’s in the mini mall in Devils Lake. He worked there for 2 years before going to work at Mr. & Mrs. J’s Restaurant. Jeff bought Mr. & Mrs. J’s in 1997 and the Old Main Street Café in 2000. He worked and ran the restaurants until retiring from the business in 2017. After retirement, Jeff went to work at the North Dakota School for the Deaf where he worked until his illness took over at the end of 2021.
Jeff was a member and president of the Chamber of Commerce for many years. He was a member of the Sportsman Bowling League as well as a member of a Dart Team for many years. Jeff recently became a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Jeff enjoyed many things in life. He loved spending time with his family, going to the lake, boating, and fishing. Jeff was an avid Sioux fan. He loved going to the Sioux hockey games with his friends at the “Ralph.”
Jeff was a one-of-a-kind man. He would bend over backwards for anyone in need. Jeff was the best husband, father, brother, and friend anyone could ask for. He will be missed dearly.
Jeff is survived by his wife Brenda (Brouillet) Huber; brother Ed (Sherry) Huber; sister Gayleen Huber all of Devils Lake; his three children Nicole Huber, Devils Lake, Halie (Scott) Likness, Lakota ND and John Huber (Shelby Music), Webster ND; nine grandchildren Sheldon Dockter, Toby Dockter, Isabelle Armentrout all of Devils Lake, Chloe, Carson and Amelia Likness all of Lakota and Brantley, Everleigh and Blakely Huber all of Webster.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, John, mother Lauraine and brother John Lewis Huber Jr.
Urn Bearers will be Steve Nelson, Dan Kraft, Mason Laber, Peter Hoffart, Brian Brouillet and Chuck Laber; Reading Scripture, Wayne Cherney and Al Eisenzimmer; Honorary Bearers, Class of 1975 and all of Jeff’s dear friends and family; Eucharistic Gift Bearers Kristy Laber, Sis Eisenzimmer, Sue Cherney and Kris Quam; Music provided by Lynne Webster, Tom Burckhard and Audrey Myklebust.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Monday, May 23, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with the Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
