Jeffrey LeNoir

Jeffrey Benette LeNoir, 63 of the Spirit Lake Nation passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Jeffrey was born on February 3, 1960 in Hennepin County Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Amelia Josephine (Dubois) and John Baptist Lenoir.

He worked a variety of jobs over the years, but putting his carpentry skills to use was a special talent and the one he enjoyed the most. In his spare time he loved watching college basketball.

Jeffrey will always be remembered for his friendly demeanor and genuine kindness. Many will recall seeing him walking Highway 57 as he made his way to appointments in Fort Totten and Devils Lake. With a warm smile on his face and a heart filled with compassion, Jeffrey touched the lives of those he encountered along the way. Known for his polite nature, he never failed to express gratitude to those who offered him a lift during his travels.

Jeffrey is survived by his children Jeffrey Lenoir Jr. of St. Michael, Codi Malnourie, Tokio ND, Lexie Wanna, Minto, ND, and Bo Carrier, Mountain, ND and six precious grandchildren; brothers and sisters Mary, Michelle, Sharon, Joann, James, Jerry, Joel, Jackie and twins Lee and Leroy; extended family, Lisa McPhail and Lenna Luukonen; favorite brother-in-law Bradley Johnson and special nephew Kyle Tester.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Baby Boy (LeNoir) Herman, sisters Marie and Lanette, brother John LeNoir, sister-in-law Rene LeNoir, brothers-in-law JJ Monette and Michael Tester, nieces and nephews, special friend and side kick Gary Smith.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Spirit Lake Ambulance and the Fort Totten Clinic Staff. Their unwavering support, compassionate care, and many years of kindness will always be remembered. In particular, a special thank you to Dr. Vaagen and nurse Sue for their dedication and attentiveness throughout Jeffrey's journey.

Funeral Services for Jeff will be held on  Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake ND with Reverend Paul Schuster officiating.
