JoAnne M. Gust (Kraft, Wentz)

JoAnne Marie Gust (Kraft, Wentz) was born on July 12, 1975 to James and Marcia (Berg) Kraft. She was raised and attended school in Devils Lake, graduating from Devils Lake in 1993. She was united in marriage to Wayne Wentz in 1993. They had two children together, Brendan and Timothy (deceased, stillborn).  Wayne passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident in 2001.

In 2004, JoAnne married lifelong partner, best friend Casey Gust. Casey became her rock and much more than a step-father to Brendan.

During JoAnne's life, she worked at various jobs in Devils Lake and Grand Forks including Leevers, Best Buy, Dynaclean, Lutheran Home/Heartland, and most recently doing many years of home health care in the Lake Region area. She also spent a lot of her time helping with her dad, Jim's Car Sale business.

JoAnne cherished her son Brendan and they went to many car races and concerts together. She also enjoyed hunting, fishing, rummage sales, and many Walmart trips with her best friend, her Mom. She was an avid gardener. She loved every moment spent with her family. She was an avid Firebird's fan for her niece and nephew, Vivianna and Logan Kraft.

JoAnne had an infectious smile, time to visit with everyone, and always put her family first, helping them whenever they needed her.

JoAnne was diagnosed in 1993 with chronic kidney disease. She started dialysis in 2016 and courageously lost her long, painful battle, and passed with her family by her side.

JoAnne is survived by her husband Casey, son Brendan, daughter-in-law Sadie, parents Jim and Marcia Kraft, brother James Kraft Jr. and wife Heidi and their children PJ, Samantha (Nich), Stephanie, and Brady, brother Jason Kraft and wife Danielle, and their children Logan and Vivianna. And her beloved dog Ralphie; aunts and uncles Robert (Debby) Kraft, Tom (Sue) Kraft, Kaye (Greg) Schwab, Don (Diane) Kraft, Alpha (Gene) Lang, Yvonne Shear, Terry (Vickie) Berg, Eline (Jim) Kirchoffner, Evan Berg, Kevin (Missy) Berg, and many treasured cousins, great aunts and great uncles.

JoAnne was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne, infant son Timmy, grandparents Alfred and Esther Berg and Louie and Rose Kraft and in-laws Robert and Judy Gust.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday, October 28, 2022 beginning at 2:00 p.m. with a celebration of life at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Kapelle officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
