John K Dunn

GRAVESIDE SERVICES AND MILITARY HONORS ON MONDAY, JULY 3, 2023 AT 11:00 A.M. AT THE DEVILS LAKE CEMETERY.

John Karl Dunn, 74 of Devils Lake ND passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2022 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. 

Graveside Services and Military Honors will be accorded in the summer of 2023 at the Devils Lake Cemetery. 

John Karl Dunn, son of Joseph and Agnes (Svidal) Dunn was born on January 8, 1948 in Kankakee, Illinois.

John was reared and educated in Devils Lake, graduating from Central High School with the class of 1966. He attended Lake Region Junior College and Minot State Teacher’s College.

John entered the United States Army o September 8, 1969. He proudly and honorably served his country stationed in Panama. He was honorably discharged from active duty with the rank of Specialist 4 on June 7, 1971 and continued as a Reservist until September 7, 1975. 

After his military service, John worked as a farm laborer in the Lake Region area. He worked for a time at Concrete Sectional and Lightning Electric.  For nearly 24 years, John worked for Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad as a signal maintainer (SIGMTR), retiring in 2012. 

John’s first duty was always to his family and friends. He cared for his parents until their passing, and was always looking after his neighbors, and cherishing good friends, classmates and co-workers. He was treasured by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.

John’s loving family include his brother Joe (Karen) Dunn III of Bemidji, MN and sister Judy (John) Reslock, Oregon, several nieces, nephews and their families, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
