Jerry Heintz

John Gerald “Jerry” Heintz was born in Devils Lake, ND on September 1, 1938 to John Heintz, Jr. and Rose (Heilman) Heintz. He attended St. Mary’s Academy for eight years and graduated from Central High School in 1957.

He worked various jobs in Devils Lake and was a veteran, joining the United States Navy. He attended Wahpeton State School of Science, getting a certificate in the TV and Radio Repair.

He worked at the North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown, North Dakota where he met Christine Rufsvold and they married in 1973, had a daughter, Heather.

In 1976 he moved to Overland Park, Kansas, and worked for a treatment center in Kansas City, Missouri where he met Joan Koenigsdorf and they married in 1995. Joan was a therapist and Jerry worked for several years in her office processing the billings. Joan died in March of 2000.

Jerry passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024 in Overland Park, Kansas.

Jerry is survived by his daughter Heather, one grandson and one great grandson, sister Rosalie Heintz and two step children.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Joan.

Funeral Services for Jerry will be on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, ND with burial in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Devils Lake. The service will be available later in the day at gilbertsonfuneralhome.com
