John "Jack" M. Bachmeier

John M. "Jack" Bachmeier, 64 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at his mother's home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial for John will be on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake ND with the Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

John Milton Bachmeier, one of nine children of Mike and Doris (Krogfoss) Bachmeier was born on December 27, 1957, in New Rockford ND. Jack grew up in Devils Lake and attended St. Mary's Academy.

Jack married very young, the love of his life and they were the proud parents of one son. Jack loved his family with his whole heart and when this marriage did not work out, it really changed John. He turned to our Lord and read the Bible every day.

John worked long hours with his father and learned to lay cement blocks and bricks, constructing basements, chimneys, fireplaces, and many other projects. This was a seasonal occupation, so John then started doing body work and painting cars. He especially enjoyed fixing and restoring classic cars and was exceptionally talented in that endeavor. He had his own shop and when he just could not update to a larger building and proper paint booth, he earned his CDL and began trucking across the United States for several years.

John always kept his son in his heart. He wanted the best for him, missed him and wished he could have spent more time with him as he grew up. Jack turned that caring heart towards others and was thankful for the life God has chosen for him. John always helped wherever he could, wherever he was needed, and many times forgot to care for himself, others always came first.

John put his all in everything he did. He loved horses, took care of them, and tamed the wild mustangs, gently of course and formed a bond with them. He loved birds, especially eagles. When he was heading home after being gone a while, the family would get a vision of one or two eagles flying around and John would not be far behind. He enjoyed gardening, including planting flowers and trees. John had a profound respect for all God's creatures and the wonderful world we are blessed to live in.

John is survived by his loving family. His mother Doris; son John Michael Bachmeier; grandsons Gage Austin Flugstad and Dylan Michael Bachmeier; sisters Jean (Joe) Bjerke, St. Cloud MN, Thelma Bachmeier, Devils Lake, Cindy (Keith) Borgeson, Manvil ND and Monica Bachmeier, Minot ND; brother Rodney James Bachmeier, Uehling NE; eighteen nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Welcoming John into Heaven were his Lord and Savior, his Dad Mike, grandparents Milton and Annie Bachmeier, Charles and Thelma Krogfoss, brother Joseph Michael Bachmeier and sisters Michele "Shelly" Danae Bachmeier and Rebecca Kay Bachmeier and many other beloved family members.

Reading the Scriptures will be Kim Krogfoss with Karl Vernon Krogfoss Jr. and Karli Krogfoss carrying the Eucharistic Gifts.
