John G. Zettler, 86 of Devils Lake formerly of Leeds, ND passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 6:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Leeds, ND with burial in the church cemetery. Fellowship will be held in the church dining hall.

John Glenn Zettler, son of John and Minnie (Thompson) Zettler was born on May 3, 1938 on the farm at rural Garske, North Dakota. He grew up in the Garske area and attended the one-room school there.

John was united in marriage to his precious Lorraine Eback on June 9, 1962 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Devils Lake.

John spent his whole life as a farm laborer, working for farmers in the Lake Region area, Cando, Rolette, North Dakota and Fisher, Minnesota. He took pride and felt blessed to be a part of the farm life from planting to harvest and the beauty of nature.

In 1982, John and Lorraine moved to Leeds, ND and made it their home through the years. After over 47 years of marriage, Lorraine passed away on April 3, 2009. John continued to make his home in Leeds until May of 2023 when he moved to Devils Lake.

John was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Leeds and enjoyed participating in the many events and activities of the Leeds community.

John treasured time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren; playing cards with them, and being a part of their lives as much as he could.

John is survived by his daughter Lorraine Zettler, Devils Lake; grandchildren Courtney (Jason Phillips) Zettler, Portland OR, Abbigale Zettler and Austin Zettler both of Devils Lake; Isabella Grace Johnson and Douglas William John Schmick; brother Mikkel and his wife Judy Zettler of Devils Lake; brother-in-law Bernhard Eback of Leeds; several dear nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers William Zettler and Edward Zettler, sister Mary Hoffart and in-laws George and Frances Eback.
