Jonathan B. Lommen, 38 of Minnewaukan, ND passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Jonathan Bruce was born on April 24, 1979 at Devils Lake, ND, precious son of Timothy and Cynthia (Somerville) Lommen. He grew up in the Brinsmade and Minnewaukan areas, attended Minnewaukan Public School and graduated from Minnewaukan High School with the class of 1997. He also attended Lake Region State College in Devils Lake. Jonathan worked for a time at the Grahams Island State Park and later as a security guard at the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort for many years. At the time of his death, Jonathan was employed by the City of Minnewaukan and was the librarian for the Minnewaukan library. He also ran the meat raffles for the Minnewaukan Gaming Commission. Jonathan was a member of the Minnewaukan Community Club and he volunteered to work on any project or event to benefit the Minnewaukan community and its residents. Jonathan was an avid reader and a creative writer of sci-fi stories. He was the local “pet sitter” for many family and friends. He was the friend you could always count on to help in any way he could. He had such a caring and kind heart, and happily looked after both sets of grandparents through the years. We cannot imagine our lives without Jonathan. He brought us all so much joy and happiness and will be so missed by all who knew and loved him. Jonathan’s loving family includes his parents Tim and Cindy, Minnewaukan; brother Justin (Candace) Lommen, Devils Lake; nephew Joshua Wentz; grandparents Linda Somerville and Ted and Marjorie Lommen all of Minnewaukan; aunt Susan (Joel) Piatz; uncles Terry (Mary) Lommen, Daniel (Laura) Somerville and David Somerville; godparents Darlis Short, Carl and Caroline Daugherty and many dear cousins. He was welcomed into Heaven by his Poppa Arlen Somerville and great grandparents John and Geneva Somerville, Deana and Rutherford Short, Harold and Emma Lommen and Lloyd and Margaret Griffin. Funeral Services for Jonathan will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Free Lutheran Church, Minnewaukan, ND with Reverend Lu Mathison officiating. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, ND on Saturday, February 17th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a time of remembrance and prayer at 7:00 p.m.
