Justin Jay Young was born on August 18, 1961, in Devils Lake ND, the son of Gabe and Evelyn (LeftBear) Young. He grew up in the Tokio/Woodlake area and attended school in Warwick, ND. In his younger years, Jay was part of the rodeo circuit.
Jay loved his family and friends, and they always knew they were welcome in his home. This was where many good times were enjoyed, lots of storytelling, joking around and teasing. Darrell’s Bar was the local watering hole, and Jay met his old friends there and made many new friends there too.
Jay may not have said it often, but he loved his family with his whole heart, and his friends meant the world to him.
Jay’s loving family include his brother Wesley Young and sister Trudy (Clint) LaRoque, several nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lawrence Dean Young and Tronson Young, sister Cleo Hapa and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Casket Bearers will be Joel Redfox, Troy Redfox, David Redfox, Archie Redfox, Craig Estenson and James Little. Honorary Bearers will be the Spirit Lake Tribal Council, Spirit Lake Tribe, Spirit Lake Ambulance, and the Fort Totten Police Department. All Drum Groups are welcome to share their songs in memory of Jay.
