Justin W. “Pwee” DuBois, 63 of Fort Totten, ND passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Lakota Good Samaritan Care Center.
Gathering of family and friends and a time of prayer and remembrance will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Fort Totten Recreation Center. There will a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. and visitation will end at 10:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Friday from City Plaza.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Fort Totten, ND with Father Charles Leute, OP celebrating the Mass. Justin will be laid to rest in St. Jerome’s Cemetery, rural Fort Totten in the spring.
Justin Wayne, son of Ambrose Abraham and Alice Joshua-DuBois was born on June 14, 1955 at Fargo, ND. The family made their home in the Fort Totten area of the Spirit Lake Nation. Justin attended school in Fort Totten and Oberon. He also attended Job Corp before entering Military Service.
Justin entered the United States Army on February 27, 1978 at New Rockford, ND. He served at Fort Carson, Colorado until his honorable medical discharge on December 3, 1978. He returned to North Dakota and made his home in Devils Lake working at Montieth’s Meats and also at Lake Region Lutheran Home.
Justin met and married Nora Theising and they were the parents of Justin Jr. and Lawrence. Nora passed away at a very young age. Justin married Maureen Johnson and welcomed to the family sons Wayden and Wendelin and daughter Vera. They made their home in Devils Lake for many years.
In the late 1990’s, Justin moved to Fort Totten and made it his home until his death. Justin met Connie Lohnes and made a happy life together until her death on November 1, 2018.
Justin was a very talented artist. His artistic side included drawing, bead work and many other arts and crafts. He also had quite a collection of Hot Wheels.
Justin proudly served his country, he knew and loved his Creator and treasured time spent with his dear family and close friends.
Justin is survived by his loving family. Son Wayden DuBois, Bismarck, ND and his children and Justin’s grandchildren Cedar Rain DuBois, Wendelin Wayde DuBois and Nakhya Ann DuBois; sons Justin Jr. and Lawrence; daughter Justine DuBois, South Dakota; sisters Joyce (Bill) Lunak, Devils Lake, Anne (Henry) Scott, Fort Totten, Alverda (Shane) Lohnes, St. Michael; brothers Richard DuBois, Fort Totten, Ray (Lynn) DuBois, Oberon and John (Pearl) BirdsBill, Minneapolis, MN; many nieces and nephews; great uncle Floyd Joshua and many other beloved family members.
He was welcomed home to Heaven by his parents; son Wendelin DuBois in 2006 and daughter Vera DuBois-Monroe in 2018.
Casket Bearers for Justin will be Terry Halsey, Durane DuBois, Dakota Charboneau, Lyle Morin, Pernell Cavanaugh, Jeff Lunak, Shane Peltier and Merv Littlewind.
