Kala Michelle Lovgren passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018, in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Precious daughter of Barry and Susan (Whitney) Lovgren, Kala was born on November 21, 1980, in Williston. She began elementary school there, before moving with her family to Devils Lake in 1988. Kala graduated from Devils Lake High School with the Class of 1999. Thereafter, she continued her education at the University of North Dakota, majoring in Law.
Kala lived in Sheridan, Wyoming, for a time, where she worked as a Land Man for Marathon Oil. She later returned to the Lake Region and worked at The Cove restaurant. Most recently, Kala was employed at Sweet Treats Bakery in Bismarck, after moving there in October 2017.
Kala was exceptionally artistic and crafty. She produced in her life many beautiful pieces of bead work, cross-stitch, and crochet. She also had a gift for creative writing and drawing. A great fan of basketball, Kala could have several favorite teams in one season.
Kala’s loving family include her children Sierra Tandeski and Savannah McKay of Devils Lake, and Zoey McKay and Robert Barry McKay of LaMoure, North Dakota; her stepson Julian McKay of Fort Totten; her parents Barry and Susan of Devils Lake; her brother Andrew Lovgren of Devils Lake; and several nieces and nephews. Many aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Irene Whitney as well as James and Helen Lovgren, and her uncle Dr. Robert Whitney, Jr.
Funeral services for Kala will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Devils Lake, with burial in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
