Kathleen "Kathy" Ann (Rider) Alberts

Kathleen Ann “Kathy” Rider Alberts died suddenly on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at her home in Hudson, Wyoming.

Kathleen Ann (Rider) Alberts was born on December 11, 1962 to Carol Ann Willow and Marion Benny Rider in Harlem, MT.

Kathy grew up in California she attended schools at Ulysses S. Grant Elementary in Long Beach California, Middle School at Washington Jr. High and attended Bellflower High School in Bellflower, CA.

In 1981 she met Joseph "Little Joe" Alberts Sr. of this 20 year union they had 5 children, Jessica, Jennifer, Jason, Jewell and Jeremy. In 1990 they moved to Saint Michael on the Spirit Lake Reservation and made this their home.

Kathy was a stay at home Mom during her children's younger years, her family was always put first. Kathy enjoyed baking, cooking (trying new recipes), sewing, reading, scrapbooking, summer vacations to Wyoming, "facebooking," Bingo, playing slots at the casino and spending time with her children and grandchildren. This was the best of times for Kathy.  Kathy’s world revolved around her grandchildren. Every one of her twenty-one grandchildren were very special to her, her pride and joy. At the time of her death she was caring for several of her grandchildren.

Kathy worked at DTI, Warwick Public School as a Teacher’s Aide, Flagger for Blaq Construction Co., Trails West Motel and Bellisle Store. She worked for R.E.M. in Devils Lake where she worked as a (D)irect (S)upport (P)rofessional, later promoted to House Manager and at the same time served as the Postmaster at Saint Michael’s Post Office where she enjoyed her daily interactions with the Spirit Lake Community. Before moving to Wyoming, Kathy worked at Gordmans in Grand Forks while she resided in Emerado, ND.

For the past 2 plus years, Kathy resided in Wyoming where she was closer to the Willow family and also some of her children and grandchildren. Kathy’s love for family was unconditional and never ending.

Kathy is survived by her loving family: Daughters Jessica (Darcy) Alberts, Fort Totten ND, Jennifer Alberts-Robertson, Hudson WY and Jewell Alberts also of Hudson; Sons Jason (Tristan) Alberts, St Michael ND and Jeremy Alberts, Bismarck ND. 21 Grandkids: Darsie Ann Longie, Dason Longie, Dru Longie, James Robertson III , Jadyn Robertson, Bianca Cavanaugh , Avionna Cavanaugh, Jayla Alberts, Jason Alberts Jr, Javon Alberts, Jaylyn Alberts, JayElle Alberts, Jordae Alberts, Sincere Alberts, Noah Black, Jace Yankton, Kashton Yankton, Taya Alberts, Jeremy Alberts Jr, Jordan Alberts and Jax Alberts; More Grandchildren Joseph III, JoLynn, Kristian, Tawnya and Samantha Alberts, Jo-Mike and Renee Leftbear, Virginia, Marcus and Sophia Friday, Xarianna and Lillianna SittingEagle, Genesis and Sonny Vanfleet, Trevan and Kyson, Detrick and Atiana Vanfleet; Great Grandkids Blake, Darret and Karter Mudgett; Grandpa Aloysius  D. Preceded in death by her parents, sister Francene Rider, grandma Nancy Standing Willow, grandparents Ambrose and Julia Rider; great grandparents Joe Standing and Anna Okema Standing, aunts Jean Friday Moss, Lillian Beauchamp, uncle Aloysius D. Willow Jr., cousins Theresa Vann and Titus Morrison, nephew Sonny VanFleet; daughter-in law Carla Jo Yellowbird.

Casket Bearers for Kathy will be Darcy Longie, Dason Longie, James Robertson III, Jadyn Robertson, Noah Black, Jason Alberts Jr., Randy VanFleet, Anthony Peltier and Joseph “Son-Son” Alberts III. Honorary Bearers will be All of Kathleen’s many friends and family.
