LaCosta Rose McKay, 39 of Moorhead MN and of the Spirit Lake Nation passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021 in Moorhead.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the Dakota Baptist Church, Fort Totten from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a time of prayer and remembrance at 7:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave on Monday at 4:00 p.m. from the City Plaza, Devils Lake.
Funeral Services for LaCosta will be on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Paul Young officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
LaCosta Rose, daughter of Murray and Cecelia (Greywind) McKay was born on May 18, 1981 in Bismarck ND. She attended school in Bismarck and later moved with her foster parents to the Fort Totten area. In the late 2000’s, LaCosta moved to the Fargo/Moorhead area. LaCosta had a passion for drawing and had many other talents she shared and enjoyed.
LaCosta certainly had her struggles, but she always knew the love of her Creator, she could always feel the love and prayers of her family and she always wanted what was best for her children. She loved life, she was that special Mom who wanted to know what was happening in her children’s lives and was so very thankful to family and friends who helped her in anyway they could.
LaCosta’s earthly life was brief, but we return her to the arms of her Creator for true happiness in eternity.
LaCosta’s loving family include her children Michah Woods, Cynecrea Woods, Peyton Fassett, Hannah Fassett, Precious McKay, Waste Wi Richotte, Destry Cadotte and Baby Mathea; grandchildren JaeLynn and Jerry Lenoir; her Dad, Murray McKay; brothers and sisters Cory Allen McKay, Desiree McKay, Andy McKay, Rochelle McKay, Red Hawk McKay, Grey Hawk McKay, Isabella McKay and many dear aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her mother Cecelia and several other beloved family.
Pallbearers will be Michah Woods, Peyton Fassett, Cory McKay, Steven Greywind, Shane Greywind,Joe Greywind and Rosita McKay. Honorary Bearers are all of LaCosta’s dear family and many friend and the Sanford Hospital Staff.
